My dealer has always done the inspections without me asking. Guess I will have to verify that they get done on time now.

Default ULPTW on an '08

I have the unlimited lifetime powertrain warranty on an '08 manufactured in Sept. of 07...I also had a diamond plan for several years as well...have I used it...lol..Once day I will post all the service tickets from using it but it might be easier to take a picture of the file folder that has all of them in it. I plan on keeping this until it's so old I have to restore it.

Default Jeep MVP Voided my Warranty -- HELP

Hello All,

It’s been a while since I added anything to this forum and am seeking legal advice. This is going on now as I type…

As can be seen in this forum, I did a 2012 Jeep JK build called Crubicon (in 2012). I travel for work a lot and only have approx. 33K miles on it. About 1.5 years ago, I took my Jeep into AutoNation Chrysler Jeep West, Colorado for AC not working. They said it was the hose and replaced it under my Lifetime warranty I paid for when I purchased the Jeep new in 2012. Since then put about less than 1000 miles on the Jeep because I was deployed around the country (I work for a Federal Agency that helps with the response and recovery of disasters). After this winter, I drove my Jeep to California and turned on the AC for the first time since summer 2020, and noticed it was not working. I took it in to the Thompson Placerville Jeep, California.

Warranty covered evaporator coil, and then dealership said the compressor was bad too. MVP requested a digital (picture) which the dealership provided, but then required an inspector be sent out to do an inspection. I told the dealership to install a new one while we waited on the inspector to arrive and confirm the bad (confirmed bad by dealership—seized compressor) warranty confirmation. Inspector came and said they will not cover the compressor because it was removed prior to authorization. Further, MVP is saying they are submitting to remove my warranty because vehicle is heavily modified. The only power train mods I have are RIP coils. I do have a 4 IN lift and 37 IN tires with axles geared with 4.88. Aside from other body mods (i.e. grill, bumpers, winch, etc…) there is nothing that could affect the AC unit.

I thought Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act states that a dealer must prove that aftermarket equipment caused the need for repairs before it can deny warranty coverage. Also, there are many other things covered on the warranty that have nothing to do with lifting a vehicle (i.e. paint is covered from bubblying).

I need legal help and/or representation.

Here is MVPs email:

“When the vehicle was inspected, the ac compressor had already been replaced without prior authorization to do so as required as part of standard operating procedure for MVP. The compressor will remain denied.

Reviewing the case further, the vehicle was found to be Heavily modified and is not eligible for lifetime coverage as plan provisions state on page 2 :" The following vehicles are not eligible for a Chrysler Group Service Contract... vehicles altered or converted from the original manufacturer’s specifications" The plan will be forwarded for cancellation as it is not eligible for coverage. per page 7

"We reserve the right to cancel the Plan after issuance should it be discovered that: (a) the vehicle is ineligible or has been modified/altered to make it ineligible after Plan coverage has been in effect"

Edit 6/4/21-0937
Spoke with Jeep Customer Care and they are quoting the following passage from my warranty as the reason to decline all warranty coverage. "The following vehicles are not eligible for a Chrysler Group Service Contract...vehicles altered or converted from the original manufacturer’s specifications" AND, "We reserve the right to cancel the Plan after issuance should it be discovered that: (a) the vehicle is ineligible or has
been modified/altered to make it ineligible after Plan coverage has been in effect"

The following is the listed modifications they observed:
Coil Over Suspension
Axle Trusses
ARB Differentials (this is actually only the diff covers not ARBs)
Track Bar Relocation
37 IN Tires
Aftermarket Lighting Wiring Controler

I am now heading to the Dealership to pick up my vehicle. They are charging me $1500 for the compressor and troubleshooting...
