why is my jk acting like a POS?
yeah after looking around on here for about 2 hours last night i found a few other threads that said about ripping the evap can off and the gas cap light too. my dad has been a mechanic for 20+ years and knows his stuff. he said that certain emission monitors (test that the computer runs) only do it during certian circumstances. he said that is why it would set a check engine light or throw a code. we put the dry gas in and it went away immediately. he had a sunfire that came in for months that they were replacing injectors and draining the tank and they thought the owner was getting bad gas. but they looked harder and the fill tube had small pinholes from rust and it was enough to let water in the tank. they fixed that and it was fine.
so yeah i am ver yhappy i got her fixed!
no more water or mud!!!!!

P.S. Dads fix...moms heal....
Glad it all worked out, that was one sick mud hole you went through. You may want to invest in an Evap relocate kit and a snorkel. Then you should not have any issues going through the seep stuff.
Im glad you got it figured out! I still think its hilarious that you ripped off the Evap and it just disappeared
I dont know what jeep was thinkin when they put it there
Did you order a relocation kit yet?

You figured it out without me, I was gonna suggest that since you ripped your e-vap canister off, to check and see if water got in that side of it....
Well glad it worked out for you.

well fellas, it is back and worse than it was before. i am wondering if there is more than water in the tank now. i am down to about less than half tank. i am still skeptical that is what it was. when it starts doing it i turn the engine off and it goes away for a couple minutes. maybe the injectors are srcewed up? i am gonna try to pull the tank this weekend and see if i can look inside. maybe there is more in there than what we think. i called the dealer today and told them what it was doing. he seemed kind of skeptical but i am going up saturday to take the service manager for a ride to show him. it goes in monday, i ll keep you guys posted.
also now the gas cap light is on and won t go off. something is definately wrong. i don t really care anymore what it takes to fix it i just want it fixed. this really has me stressed out now, can t sleep and my bp is really high. i haven t even made the second payment yet!
