Ok so an update to my windshield whistle issue: I got a whole new windshield today, and I still have the whistle!!!?? So I really dont know at this point? The dealer said it wasnt the hard top and it wasnt the antenna causing the whistle and to have the people that put my new windshield to check it out, and I did that and it's still there. So is this something everyone else is experiencing? It occurs at 30-40 mph. I am starting to lose faith in the jeep dealership by me as well, I have had my jeep in 4 times now the rattle in my door, and they finally replaced the latch but there is still a noise. Are these issues that everyone else is dealing with??? should I be pushing these issues higher than the dealership?? thanks for any input!!

Default windshild noise

Like others I have problems with the whistleing after a new windshield was installed on my 09 JK. I'm on my 4th windshield from Safelight Autoglass. After doing some research I figured out that a lot of people are having this problem. The Safelight installer told me that his boss said that they have 9 other ongoing cases of this in the state with the new JKs. I've read that others are having problems with Mopar as well as other brands of windshields. So a Mopar won't fix it. Here is a link to another forums with some was people have fixed thiers. I'm going to try this after my 5th install........

If anyone figures out the problem then please email me at

We need to spread the word....this whistle is so annoying. Thx

I have the whistle with the stock windshield, haven't bothered to pursue the TSB route as it isn't too bad and I usually have the radio/cd player going anyways.

Good advice to isolate it.

Tape your door striker plate with some electrical tape, it will fix the rattle. The board has a few threads on this and I think you'll find that fixes that problem. THe windshield whistle is a different story. I just crank the radio.

X2 -just tape the edge of the striker closest to the door (as opposed to the wider edge that faces the front)

I'm sitting at Safelite for the third time after getting the windshield replaced, b/c of the whistle. They have told me the windshield has to be in there "just right". So now I have standing Sat appt time. Fun fun

FIXED!

I forgot to update this. Sorry. I did get mine fixed. What we did was just put the bead of sealant a little closer to the edge of the windshield. I then slowly pressed it out until it filled the gap a little better. It fixed the problem right away! Be careful not to put it to close to the edge or it will squeeze out to much and look terrible. Although you could simply let it dry and start over.

To bad it took 6 installs to figure it out. 4 months later not a whistle.
Good luck Guys!

I had the same issue but I have a soft top. I remedied the problem by slightly bending the top bow hardware, that sits above the door header, down. As I was putting the top back up one evening I applied enough pressure downward on the bow to make the front of the top seat tighter than it had been, reducing the amount of wind noise. Hope this makes sense. If not you can reply or pm and I can send pics if needed. Good Luck.
