I had the windshield whistle and just found out it was from the windshield.

I bought my '07 hardtop JK used and never noticed the windshield had been replaced previously. I had taken my JK in for leaks and the whistle. The leaks were improved (but never fixed) but the whistle remained. It even whistled with the top off which made me question where the whistle was coming from.

My windshield cracked the other day and luckily I still was paying for the windshield replacement insurance policy (which I meant to take off). They replaced it for free today and the technician doing the work was very good. He had done some JKs before and had complaints of the whistle. He did a very thorough job and now the whistle is gone!!!!

Maybe I should call the windshield guy to fix my A-Pillar leaks!!

Like others I had the whistle. Dealer replaced the windshield, replaced the header seal twice, and replaced the door seal on the passenger side front door. One layer of masking tape would not isolate where exactly the whistle was coming from. The dealer sent it to a body shop to see if they could isolate it. The bodyshop guy could stop it if he put three layers of masking tape around the windshield. I ended up going to walmart and buying aquarium aireator line and pushing it in making a flush seal between the winshield and frame. I figured this alternative was less permanent if the windshield should ever need to be replaced. 25 foot of this is around $3.00. Winshield whistle was gone!!!

2009 Wrangler Unlimited Hard top..
I have the same Problem.. Went to Safelite twice..
First time they used Safelite Glass and 2nd time they used Factory Mopar glass..
And it still whistles. its driving me crazy..

I know its the Wind Shield because i put Electrical tap all around the edges.. and its coming from the top part of the Wind shield..

Any ideas on how to fix it..
Im thinking about bringing it in for the 3rd time.. Please advise on what i should say to them..

Mine had the same problem. I had to have my windshield replaced about 9 months ago. The installer was very carefull and knew the JKs were tough and had issues. It corrected the problem until recently when it started again. It's not close to as bad as it was before and I only notice it now with the radio off and lower speed. It really isn't a problem for me now but is interesting that it was completely gone and now has returned slightly.

I also have a small chip/crack in the windshield which will probably require replacement again. I'm hoping when replaced I can get the same technician!!!!

Default 30 -40 mph Whistling Noise

I had my windshield replaced and this whistling noise seems to be very problematic because of the shape of the windshield frame as well as the "gap" between the glass and the frame.

The original windshield did not whistle at all. I reseated the freedom top after glass replacement, and it seems to have minimized the noise a little (but still audible).

I suspect 2 things: 1) non-OEM glass the edge does not have the same bevel as the OEM glass (seems more square vs rounded), 2) temperature - it is now winter where I live and the "rubber seals" would compress further due to the cold or be extra stiff allowing more noise since everything fits a little more loosely. Another forum member mentioned adding zip ties or pushing on the Freedom Top locks to make it "tighter".

I'm hoping to find a solution too. The windshield installers are clueless. More poly glue may not be the right solution.

Any help - beyond having it reinstalled again would be great.
