Have you tried to pound yours out? Mine had a basketball sized dent ( diameter not depth) and I removed it and after some quality time w a BFH and black rustoleum it looks great!

thought about it but my once 22 gal tank now only holds 16-17 from it being so badly mashed in. would take lots of tender loving care to smooth it out so i figured if i can find one here it would be much easier, but if not then i guess i have a long and loud day ahead of me.

Maybe you should run it over.

Have you checked the local junk yards? Not a common part for people to look for so I bet they have the skid and tanks. Some will do the swap for you too. You might also want to check on something stronger or see if you can have a plate welded to it for extra protection prior to installing.

It really only took a few hits and it kinda "snapped" back into shape. I spent some time getting smaller dents out.
It's very therapeutic.

haha allright i guess ill just wail on it. i do have River Raider skids now so it wasnt so much about protection as it is getting a new tank to fit in there. my dealer said i needed to get a new skid before they could replace the tank and they couldnt cover the cost of the skid, they could only honor the replacement parts outlined in the recall for the fule tanks.

guess this gives me an excuse to go out and buy a shiny new sledge hammer
