Jeep and 3M Joining to Create Those Hood Decals You Love

By -

01Something more than just seven-slatted rigs emerged from this year’s Easter Jeep Safari in Moab, Utah. The idea for a custom map decal to be installed on the hoods of the legendary off-roaders arose from the dirt and rocks.

At the event, Jeep received a favorable response to one of its Mopar-developed vehicles wearing a map of a well-known Moab trail up front, according to Pietro Gorlier, global head of the Mopar parts and service division. Now, you can go to, pick your trail or location (within North America), and have your street and/or topographical map printed and sent to your dealer for installation.

The $295 decals are made to fit the hoods of 2007-15 Wranglers, 2014-15 Cherokees, and 2011-15 Grand Cherokees. Jim Roth, 3M’s global operations manager for original wraps, said they have a three-year warranty and can be expected to last three to five years. They come in only gray-and-black right now, but they may be available in full-color in the future.
