There are alot of Navy bases that are hundreds of miles from the Coast. They are Air Bases. Fallon Nevada is one of them.

Also Caboose, they had a program when I was in the Navy that you could get a guaranteed duty station but not a guaranteed job. You could get a guaranteed job and a duty station say on the West Coast. Check into all of these. Make them show you in writting and make sure it is in writing on your contract. That is the biggest mistake that boots make is they don't get anything in writing. Once you get it in writing take it to someone that has had alot of military service and have them read it and make sure it is what you want. You can do alot of wheelin and dealin with recruters. They can give alot of lip service, but you need to see it in writing.

yeah, i had it in writing too.

by the time you take it through the mounds of legal crap to get that scrap of paper enforced, your 4 years will be up and you'll be home, and still have to pay your civilian lawyer that you will have needed to retain to fight them on it.

Be aware that when you are in BF~Egypt and open a legal case, you are "frozen" as far as PCS is concerned. you will be locked at that base until the legalities are completed.

Edit: I was guaranteed in writing: CONUS, for minimum of two years. The Job i wanted, and pay grade as i had prior college coming in.

what i recieved: the pay grade.

other than tech training and TDY for a week or so a few times. i was NEVER in the US from the time i enrolled.
i did NOT get the job i was promised.

i attempted to fight it and was informed of the above. stagnation in place and time frame for an action suit to be heard was 3-5 years.

I am not upset about it. I tried to fight it at first, however; as it turned out, Uncle Sam was right about where he put me. I LOVED the job after i got into it. I am not sorry for a second that i did it. I would request the same job they gave me all over again!
