The high-end 4x4 shops in Colorado are going to be $1600-2400 which is expensive but all of those shops have a good reputation and warranty their work.

On the north side, Crawlertech is cheaper. On the south side, check out Crazy Ed's in Colorado Springs. If you can get a first hand reference, 4wheelparts may work for you and does offer extended warranties if you ask about it. If you're in the mountains or west of the divide, check out Code 4x4 in Rifle. Don't know anything about their prices but they have a good reputation.

The Subaru dealer just confirmed that for my girlfriend's new impreza. They recommend 87, but said here, 85 is ok. He was a sales guy...

I run the performance tune 93 and use 91 and it also works great here, no pings or anything and a big boost to power and milage over stock tune from what I can tell.

sorry for the late notice.. gonna head up the Rampart Range area tomorrow. Here's the plan, but because I have a 1 year old, dog and wife it probalby won't go this smooth. I think we're going to start with the dog park off of I-25 and just south of SkyRidge around 9. then drive down to Monument and take Mount Herman Road over to Rampart Range, from there we'll either go up to Dakan mountain and out Castle Rock or go to Balanced Rock then back out Monument.. hopefully starting on the trail around 10ish..
just gonna be a light day out to spend some quality time together..

Happy Mothers Day Everyone!

Default fire bans

Don't know about up north, but central close-in areas under Fire Ban still. One resource is http://www.cofireban.info/. Drove out to Buena Vista the last two weekends (24 and 285) and saw Fire Ban signs all along the way

Pike and San Isabel NFs (Pikes Peak, South Park, South Platte and San Carlos Districts) are under Stage 1 Restrictions. Campfires are permitted in established campgrounds; otherwise no fires allowed on NFS lands (except for petroleum fueled stoves).

That restriction does not cover the Leadville district from what I can find. More than 2 hours away, but camping along Halfmoon Rd/Creek below Mt Elbert/Massive is one of my longtime favorites. Out front and a short way in are great, but if the trail is accessible, way back in there are some sweet spots. Probably still too much snow for deep access, but could probably get to the front section.

A Fall shot:

For the Colorado Springs folks (or anyone I suppose)...... Bought my Rubi from these guys and have always appreciated the majority of them own and wheel Wranglers themselves. Anyhow, if your interested they are doing a trail Day on June 4th to Spring Creek.
