Assault rifle pictures - post em up!
Here's mine. Built it myself, piece by piece. It sees a lot of practical shooting competition and it's a dream to shoot, just point and double tap, point and double tap. It's much faster than I am.
Right there with ya, but I want to play too, so I'm skipping the technicalities!
Not the best picture but here's me with my Saiga AK. Not as accurate as the AR-15s you guys have, but It got me through my 3 gun match last summer!

here's my very lacking 3 gun set up (minus 4 more 1911 mags and another 30rd AK mag in the back pocket)

That's the M249 SAW. The M240's 5.56mm little brother.

Actually the m249 is a redesigned lighter version built to replace the m60. They both fire 5.56mm but the m249 is lighter ans more accurate since it has a slower rate of fire. The m240b is a 7.62mm and is used mainly on vehicles and guard points but some infantry squads still haul em around. It can also be adapted for tanks and aircraft which is pretty freaking sweet to see in action lol.

What he said. M60 was always 7.62mmx51 NATO. Same with the M240 and it's originator, the FN MAG. The FN Minimi and the M249 have always been 5.56mm NATO except for some early XM249 prototypes.
