aks are a blast to shoot and are pretty cheap if you shop around but you really cant beat the accuracy and ability to change every part on your AR in your basement with a few simple tools

AR is better, especially a LWRC M6A2.

AR is the more precise, accurate gun. It is a close tolerance machined rifle, where as the AK is a loose tolerance gun. It is less accurate, but more reliable in austere conditions.

It really depends on the type of range you're on.

1 way range: AR.

2 way range: AK all the way!!!

Accuracy is more defined by pucker factor than the weapon, so robustness and stopping power wins out over exacting details in design.

I love when I hear that the AK is not accurate. I can walk golf balls all day long at 100 yards with mine. But maybe that is the difference between a WASR and an Arsenal.

As far as durability and brawn I would vote the AK.

Now if I want a rifle that is going to last a long time and actually be able to repair it if something on it fails ... AR everyday.

AK's are great for what they are designed to be. If they fail you don't bring it to a gunsmith, they were designed to be cheap enough that you just toss em into the garbage. AR's on the other hand were designed to be repaired with just a few parts. For that reason alone I decided to buy an M16 instead of a FA AK. Cant wait for that paperwork to come back in!

AKs are accurate, but when compared to an AR on a fixed bench, the groupings won't be as tight with the AK as they are on the AR
