Yup, the " Internet of Things " has its Dark Side. One reason my JK is bare bones, manual trans, windows , locks. No UConnect, no Remote anything.
Of course, the 1954 M38A1 is waiting in the wings should Things get Ugly.

 

My '07 Detonator Yellow JK was like that. However, my '15 Willys is not. However, 2011 on, UConnect is more pervasive in the JK's. Its there whether "activated" or not.

It sounds like FCA is behind, waaaay behind the curve on this.

 

This is a much larger problem that will affect ALL car companies. Vehicles are connected computers and now they are networked to the internet. How many throw their hands up and call IT departments for help at work and home for simple things on computers? Now moving 2 tons of steel are open to hacks. And firewalls, operating system security, OS architecture are not auto makers specialty. Wait till GM gets targeted with their whole lineup net connected.

Tesla has the best overall system for security and fixes. They are tech savvy and can issue fixes directly.
