I have an 07 JKU as well, just installed a tuffy full console last week with a Cobra CB mounted inside with an external speaker and Mic... I absolutly love it! it was some of the best money I ever spent.

2013 JK and I'm going to attempt to mount a cobra 29 on top of the cubby in the center of the dash...well actually I'll cut away so that it sits as close to the top of the radio as it can...I figure half or so will be "in" the top of the dash.....I've seen a couple shots of the pre '11 models done this way and there's really no "good" way to mount a full size radio in these damn things lol....Sure you can go overhead but I enjoy having a "convertible" so i can see sky when I look up, not a "t top" and well no room on the passenger side as the seat needs to slide fully to the front for rear passenger entry/exit...driver side, no, hate things hitting my leg...so...going to try this grande experiment...as soon as I get it figured out and fabbed up and mounted I'll be sure to post pics! If any of you have seen this please PLEASE post up a pic or two or site for some guidance...I'd hate to screw up and have to buy a new center dash lol

Used about a 1" space and fender washers inside and out for added strength. Way to go in a 2013!

App keeps crashing on photos.
I used a piece of scrap flat plate metal as backing for my radio mount and mounted it to the passenger side center console. The wife doesn't mind it there at all.

I think this is where I'm going to end up mounting mine. When I sat in the passenger seat and held it in that position it bothered me, but I'm not a small guy, so people can deal with it. Plus I rarely have passengers anyway.

I need to make some kind of spacer for when I take the radio out. The bracket by itself is annoying. Maybe a dummy box.

Finished my install this weekend using the strike force zebra bracket. Very simple, but fits perfectly and was well worth the $20. Sure, I could have easily made this, after a trip to the hardware store, time to cut it, time to bend it, fit check it, bend it some more, drill it, paint it, wait for the paint to dry, then paint it again. $20, same day shipping... I'll take it. Routed power inside A pillar plastic and coax inside rollback covers. Only thing you can see is my antenna and my radio.
