Here is how I did mine.

It does need about 1/4" more clearance for the wiper though. I run a 4' wilson fiberglass on it. Love the quick disconnect, highly recommended.

It is aluminum.

So no (or bad at best) conductivity...?

The conductivity is good, it's just every square inch of the dang thing is powdercoated.

What you need to ground is not the mount but the outer part of the coax cable coming from the CB...
You need to ground the long cable that picks up interference the farthest away from the CB, closet possible to the antenna... (hence "at the mount"...)
And this ground should be close to the mount so as not to pick up more interference while going back to the Jeep's frame... (you're adding another 3-4 feet of interference grabing cable...)

Roger that. My mount is grounded great. I didn't want to use a ground wire and you explained why. I didn't really know, I just read it was bad. Thank you.

Sorry my responses look like I'm quoting you.

That looks good man. If I put my hard top back on someday I may trim the metal back a little bit to give more clearance.

Hard top window being so close to the brake light mount kills the deal for me on this setup. I'm going to look more to mounting to the spare mount bolts rather than the brake light mount. Bummer....

I don't think it's that close to cause trouble. the 3rd brake light doesn't flex or move so I don't see any way it would contact the window. The spare tire mount bolt setup is popular. I could've made a setup for it I guess, but I won't buy one for $39-89 or whatever they're going for. my mount was under $10.

The tire carrier is popular though and it looks good. Probably want a 4' k40superflex so it clears the top of the jeep. (Or whatever brand you choose) k40 is made in PA, USA. I think Firesticks are too.

That looks like my mount with the wire routed the opposite way.

Good info, Just to give more clearance if I install the hardtop I removed some metal. Now it doesn't even contact the softtop rear window. I opened and slammed the rear door and it moves/flex more than an 8th" but less than 1/4", but just in case.

I have seen Neoxxis' set-up, it has the adventages of extending the light bracket to clear the oversized tire, and permits to fix the antena bracket on the side, away from the window. I'll go for that.

Thanks for the tread, I was trying to re-invent the wheel, getting the experience form you guys (and girls) is always best !!
