3rd brake light Antenna Install
If you have a hard top and are thinking about doing your mount like this you better check the distance very close between the mount and the glass, even if it a ½ inch space after the install one good slam and seeya @ the dealerother than that looks good hows the SWR?
Sorry dialed it in on ch19. fixed above^^^^^^

It is aluminum.
The carrier is in aluminium right?
So no (or bad at best) conductivity...?
The conductivity is good, it's just every square inch of the dang thing is powdercoated.
What you need to ground is not the mount but the outer part of the coax cable coming from the CB...
You need to ground the long cable that picks up interference the farthest away from the CB, closet possible to the antenna... (hence "at the mount"...)
And this ground should be close to the mount so as not to pick up more interference while going back to the Jeep's frame... (you're adding another 3-4 feet of interference grabing cable...)
Roger that. My mount is grounded great. I didn't want to use a ground wire and you explained why. I didn't really know, I just read it was bad. Thank you.
Sorry my responses look like I'm quoting you.

That looks good man. If I put my hard top back on someday I may trim the metal back a little bit to give more clearance.
The tire carrier is popular though and it looks good. Probably want a 4' k40superflex so it clears the top of the jeep. (Or whatever brand you choose) k40 is made in PA, USA. I think Firesticks are too.

I have seen Neoxxis' set-up, it has the adventages of extending the light bracket to clear the oversized tire, and permits to fix the antena bracket on the side, away from the window. I'll go for that.
Thanks for the tread, I was trying to re-invent the wheel, getting the experience form you guys (and girls) is always best !!
