Default Antenna Mount Question

What kind of antenna mount and length of antenna is everyone using on their JK?
IV seen some mounts that are behind the spare, some that are behind the right tail light and some that is mounted to the license plate.
Im thinking about putting one in ours was wondering what works.
Thanks.

X3 on the tire carrier. I bought my CB as a kit and it came with a hood mount that I was able to bolt to the tire carrier. Otherwise I would have done what these guys did and just skipped the "mount" altogether. Theres a few nice options out there. Cooltech lp mount and Teraflex spare tire mount are popular ones. There are others, but almost all of them seem to be $35-$75 including shipping. If you have a dremel or anything to cut a pice of steel stock you can easily make your own.

FireStik Stud mount on the factory tire carrier holding a 3' FireStik. Someone suggested a spring so I am probably going to add that in the near future.

I did the Cool Tech license plate mount. It's relatively cheap, it comes with the mounting bracket, coaxial cable, and the antenna. The only hole you have to drill is into the plastic license plate mount. I like how it looks. The antenna is very accessible if you want to take it off and then put it on just when you go wheeling and really need it. I have found that the antenna is the perfect length to fit on the dash board. And the Cool Tech mount grounds the antenna well. The installation instructions are easy to follow. All in all, I am very pleased with the function and looks of this antenna install.

Just installed on the carrier tonight. I bought a piece of steel from Home Depot for $10, cut it to lenght and bent it. I'll take pictures this weekend as soon as the system is complete.

I was curious if the antenna used with the Cool Tech system would rub on the rear or side of the Jeep when off roading?
The reason is Iv got a selection of whip antennas Iv collected over the years.
Got 3' 4' and a couple of 102" steel and fiberglass whips and springs. Just trying to deciede what and where to install. Also a couple of K40 antennas. No bases for them though

Yeah, on the menu. A coworker and fellow Jeeper mentioned it and my reaction was, "Why didn't I realize that?" The FireStik is big and fairly rigid but as he pointed out, if I hit a garage door/ceiling or a low branch it will snap off near the base. He followed his comment up by grabbing his own and bending it back more than 45 degrees! I was sold on the spot.

My Cool Tech antenna does rub the rear rock guard I put on over the rear light. Not much, though.
