Antenna Mount Question
I grounded mine as well. As you swing the tailgate back and forth you get fluctuating continuity. I drilled a hole in mine and ran a ground inside eventually to the tub. I also attached the antenna cable ground there.

Hi,
I am thinking about getting the Midland 75-822 and a firestik antenna to mount. One down side of this CB is it's short range without the exterior antenna. For this reason, I am thinking of getting at least a 5 ft firestik.
Do you have any "issues" with the antenna being that long? I have heard of some off road club run requirements that the antenna be a certain length or shorter, etc.
Do you have any pics of how you mounted it? Any suggestions overall would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I want to see your new spare tire mount. I already have the Cool Tech for my CB antenna, and I like it. But I just got my Technician license and hopefully will pass the exam for my General license in 2 weeks. I will need to mount at least one other antenna then.

Here's our new "GateMount", solid stainless steel (1/4" !) CB/Ham antenna mount. One of the unique features is that it can be mounted in 4 different orientations - left side "up", left side "down", right side "up", right side "down".
The "down" orientation reduces the mounting hole (and therefore overall antenna height) by 7.5".
The mount is available as a bracket-only (with mounting hardware) or in a kit with antenna and coax with the "trick" connectors.
I just picked up the first batch tonight.... I'm real excited with the quality and the way they came out!!

Oooohh...............they look nice!
The Gatemount looks great! On this forum, I have read that grounding an antenna that is mounted on the tailgate may, in some cases, require a separate ground wire or tape run through the door and attached to the frame. Is this a concern with your tailgate mount? Do you have a ground designed to do this?

I think I may have found the solution for the antenna question I had.
Using a license plate mount and one of the new mounts, should allow the use of both ham and cb.
Very nice looking mount.
