Looks good. if you wanted to you could run a wire between that mount and one of the carrier mounting bolts. that would improve that ground....as would grounding your taligate to the tub.....as would the tub to the frame......(nightmares are comming back)

Believe it or not mounting to side view mirrors was pretty popular back in the day. Lot of guys had one on each side for "phased" antennas. (but in reality phasing only works if you have the perfect distance between them which you really couldn't get on most vehicles.)

Here's mine, I used scrap metal I had laying around and with about 15 minutes of welding and drilling it was done.

The nice thing about the tire carrier bracket is that it:
1. attaches with 2 bolts
2. has a second hole that you can attach either a ham antenna or a trail flag.

Do you have a truck stop anywhere close to where you live? The last one i bought was less than $10 and worked great? It was pretty much an alukinum l bracket with 2 holes but I personally dont have the equipment to fab so this was my best option... This reminds me I need to go purchase another one for my new Jeep....

I always re-tune mine. If only for piece of mind. Bad SWR can kill a radio fast.

This is my under $5.00 CB antenna bracket. Added grd. wire to the frame and a couple of washers behind the bracket. Waiting on my SWR meter to come in the mail!
