I went with the Midland 75-822. I have it mounted in my jeep most of the time, but if i need to get out and walk around i can unplug it and carry it with me.
I mounted the antenna with this
Cool Tech LLC. JK Ultamount CB Antenna System
And got this to mount the radio on the dash Cool Tech LLC. JK VersaMount
The install was pretty easy.
That and a cheap SWR meter from amazon, about $15 i think.
Now i get to listen to the truckers swearing as they go down the highway !

The only bad thing about the lees grants & galaxy's is that the birds r cold soderded And the vibrations break the connections . And I had a wilson antia fall off my dump truck yesterday on the hyway ... Picked it up on next round put it back on I can't tell any difference . I thought I was going to pick up the pieces
but it works just has a little road rash .

jk's are limited for space.i would stick with the smaller radios or even the cobra 75.i have a cobra 19dx that i just installed yesterday (in between the rain drops). i mounted it above the rear view mirror.i used 24' of coax from the radio to my antenna on my AEV tire carrier.still need to check my swr's and add some ground straps.my cobra is similar to the midland in the project jk install.i followed that one cause i am used to having my radio above my head in the 18wheeler.
Went the Cobra 75 route for my 2010 JKUS after months of research. Had it for over a year now. Use it often on the interstates where I get 5 mile range. I would not consider "upgrading" or switching to any other CB. It does everything I need and more.
I went with the CoolTechLLC kit:
- Cobra 75 WXST. (scans and includes weather radio)
- VersaMount mic hook that mounts on radio screws behind trim (no cutting or drilling).
- GateMount antenna bracket. (includes longer tire mount screws)
- 4' FireStik FL-4 FireFly antenna. (very flexible)
- 18' coax with FireRing connector on antenna side and mini-UHF on radio side with mini-UHF to PL-259 adapter. (Easy routing, No Soldering)
- all required hardware (stainless screws, bolts, washers, etc.)
First pic is view from driver's seat. Indicators visable, speaker pointed at you, in easy reach.
2nd pic shouws antenna. I inverted the GateMount so I could use a 4' and still get in the garage with minimal bump.
3rd pic is what passenger sees when radio is stored in the center console.

Great setup guys! Don't know if you'll call me stingy but I use Motorola radios and batteries from Discount Two-Way Radio. Hope I'm on the right track too.
