Default CB Coax for Cobra 75

Can anyone recommend which coaxial cable I need to run in my Wrangler.

I've got the Cobra 75 with a Teraflex tailgate mount.

Tx much

Another option if you need to route through tight spaces and dont want to install you own connector. It has the exterior end with a weather boot and a compact end that has screw on type connector.

Default Fire away!

I really like my Firestik MU-8R18 Coax w/FireRing Antenna Mount with a K-4R antenna stud mount. (note: K-4R has longer bolt for FireRing than K-4) No soildering or crimping. The cable comes with a mini-UHF connector installed and a mini to PL-259 adapter. The mini-UHF makes it easy to route the cable since it is only 7/16" diameter. (For reference: RG-58 coax - 1/4", PL-259 connector - 3/4")

The FireRing keeps the antenna insulated from the mount while providing a strong and corrosion resistant connection.

I use the Teraflex mount and am using the Firestik FireRing cable. Works great.

that's exactly the same route i took using the Firestik K4A stud mount.

The install went smoothly and I can hear my buddy when he's within 50 ft of me, but we can't communicate at a longer distance.

We're both running similar setups with tailgate mounts and Cobra 75.

Any recommendations on what could be causing the issue? We have yet to tune, so that could be it.

is your mount grounded to the chasis? (RF ground and chasis/battery ground are different). Did you tune your antenna with a SWR meter?

the mount itself is is not grounded. the radio itself is grounded to the body.

Tuning has not been done, i was hoping i could get some short term use out of it without buying a meter.

The radio should have positive and negative connected to the battery and a coax connection. Nothing else. The antenna mount is what you'll ground.

Get the mount grounded, check your SWR with an external meter and go from there.
