Hey, is this my wife posting a question>>>lol

that is the same thing she asked when I told her a CB was on the xmas list...i said its to talk to the other people with CB's. She asked why I would want to talk to strangers when I won't spend the time and talk to her friends while at dinner. I said people with Jeeps and CB's aren't strangers and I have more in common with them then with her friends. Good thing I was driving or I would be walking home.

or the other answer is that they are great on the trail and for communication on the highway.

Cheers.

J

Having the CB lets me talk to the people in the front/back of the line so we know if everyone is together in the group, if there has been some kind of problem and needs to be addressed or if we just want to point out an interesting sight. It's a must-have for anyone who plans on going off-roading.
Totally agree!

very nice to have out on the highway too.... you always can get a good heads up on speed traps and road work.

A lot of Jeep clubs require you to have one.

...........And in some instances, it's a lot more reliable than cell phones in remote locations and it's cost effective as compared to other communication devices.....

Specific examples:

1. You're at the back of the line and have a tire blow. It would be nice to let folks up front know that you're delayed.

2. You're the next to go down a steep, winding stretch of narrow trail. It would be nice if someone at the bottom let you know that some idiot in a four-wheeler ignored their warnings and is headed up that same narrow trail at you.

3. You're lead and someone in back gets stuck. Since you have the winch, it might be nice if you got the call to return and help.

And so on. Right now I'm using a hand-held, but it's also on my near-term "to do" list to add a CB rig into the JK. Just more convenient, plus better range, especially in woods and hills.

Anyway, if my wife were still alive, I'd tell her it's either the $100 CB, or that $650 radial arm saw I've been wanting for years .. "Your choice, Dear!"

Get the CB, those radial arm saws are way over rated.

Besides then you can hear what your fellow trail riders are saying about you. Nothing like talkin' a bit of smack out on the trail.
