It would be easier and cheaper to just pull the console out of there and put the Tuffy one in it's place and leave all the rest of plastic in front of Tuffy console.

I was also thinking about the Tuffy overhead console. Either one is a great way to go, but they are a little steep on the price. Are you listening Tuffy? LOL I need a 50% discount. lol.

If anyone has used either Tuffy console could you chime in? Let me know how the install went, and also how you like it?

I have the cobra 29 nw st le. I was looking at the dimensions and I don't know if it will fit. Also it's been so long, (plus I drive tractor trailer) I don't remember if my mic comes out the front of the CB or the side.

I have a Cobra 29 mounted in the Tuffy overhead console. The space is a little short, so I had to push in the CB's coax connector and secure it with a 90 deg. elbow. It _just_ fits this way.

I just upgraded the center console to the Tuffy. I have the Auto Trans and the install is pretty straight forward. You must remove the seat bolts from both seats so you can flop them back out of the way, no nead to remove them from the vehicle but it would make things alot roomier! The directions to remove the factory plastic is easy enough and I have the electric windows on a 4 door, still no big deal. the putting in of the new Tuffy takes some finese (sp). I have an 09 with the little cargo net at base of dash, first remove this! or you will scratch it up

The instructions get a little week here and there is a definite order of operations to be done!

As instructed, install wiring for the power point(cigarette lighter) then assembel the inside of the box divider(s) you have 2 choises, one is for a radio as pictured or a blank wall for more storage space, I opted for #2.

Put some tape on your shift lever and plastic base trim to protect it and then with 2 people drop the center in to place. It bolts back down to the factory 4 points and you can add 2 more bolts with drilling 2 holes in floor for more security.

all in all not bad and I really like the raised SOFT arm pad!

Your talking about the 90 deg elbow that hooks the back of the radio and the coax hooks into the other end of the elbow? Also you say it just fits. Can you close and lock the unit up? Thanks.

Thanks for the info, I greatly appreciate it.

I'm also envious of you, because you have my exact Jeep!!!

I believe the Sirius antenna is on top of the sound bar, not under the center stack cover. The electronic compass however is under there. I'm not sure if that would be affected.

i didn't think about the compass or the sirius getting screwed up.
That's definitely a good thing to keep in mind.

Do you mean you had to push the coax connector inside of the radio? Could you explain this a little more? Thanks.

Also how was the install for the overhead Tuffy unit?

I'm assuming you ran your wires from the overhead console to the windshield channel, over towards passenger and down???

You are correct about the Sirius antenna. I just relocated ours because the reception was horrible with the rack and a couple of bikes on the roof.
I am not sure if the electronic compass would be affected by mounting a CB on the dash but the MyGig antenna would most likely be. That is why we had to make a simple way to relocate the antenna with the Flip-N-Lock covers.

I had to remove the retaining nut on the coax connector, then push it half-way inside the CB. I screwed on a 90 deg. fitting on the connector, and to keep the connector tight, I added a large zip-tie around the connector on the inside. This keeps the 90 deg. fitting flush with the back of the CB.

Some people go up the B-pillar, but I went up the A-pillar. This meant I had to drill a hole in the console to run the wires inside.

I also 'enhanced' the overhead console with gauges, a speaker, and magnet for the microphone.
