I just recently got a 75 for $60.00 came with one of those magnet mount antenna's which is going . Looking to get a new antenna and mount. Are the shorter antenna's any good? I don't want it sticking 2 feet above my jeep. Also going to look at fabbing up a mount. I can't beleive what they are charging for a small peice of metal for a mount. Like there is maybe $1.00 worth of materal and some are over $50.00.
My CB came wired to a plug that I Can just power up via the auxillery plugs. So I may just feed that into the centre console and mount the mount under my passenger seat. Anyone see any draw backs from using this vrs hard wireing it to the battery? I like this way easy install that can be unplugged when ever.

I don't have a radio in mine yet, but I do know from operating radios in other cars I've had, running power through these Aux ports or cigarette lighter plug you might get alternator whine when you transmit or receive or both. This result can vary from model to model or from year to year or vary from radio to radio.
If you want to unplug it whenever you want, just wire up some quick disconnect plugs
Hello
I have 90% of my 75 installed, I opted to install it inside the center console in front of the storage bin.
My question is if I plug a double male AUX wire in so I can use my radio to as the AUX speaker does having the wire plugged into the box cause it turn off the handheld speaker or does it turn off only when the other end is plugged into the radio's AUX input?
I other words can I keep the wire installed in the CB box so I can plug or unplug the other end at the radio to choose between the handheld's speaker or the jeep's speaker?
