Default Need some experience here :)

Alright so ive started my search for a cb and have read all the information i think i will need. What im planning on getting is the following from amazon.

Cobra 29 LX
Amazon.com: Cobra 29 LX 40-Channel CB Radio with Instant Access 10 NOAA Weather Stations and Selectable 4 Color Display: Car Electronics

Stud to attach to bracket for the tire carrier
Amazon.com: STUD W/SO-239 CONN: Car Electronics

Antenna Spring
Amazon.com: Firestik SS-3H Heavy Duty Stainless Steel Antenna Spring: Car Electronics

Firestick 4' Antenna w/ tunable tip
Amazon.com: Firestik Antenna 4' Black FireFly: Electronics

Tire carrier bracket(i might fab something up for this or do some more research on other products)
Amazon.com: Rugged Ridge 11503.89 CB Antenna Mount for Jeep Wrangler: Automotive

18' of Coaxial Cable(i think this specific cable has different ends on it? Ill have to dig deeper here too)
Amazon.com: 18' RG-58/U Coaxial Cable With Pl-259 Connectors: Car Electronics

If im missing anything please let me know and if you have suggestions on different products let me know

Now i know everyone says "don't put it between the tire carrier and spare tire. You wont be able to open the rear window on the hardtop with it there." Well cant you just put it on the left side of the tire carrier instead of the right so when you open the tailgate it will clear the window?

Lastly! Has anyone mounted this cb in between the visors like this?

Project-JK.com - Jeep JK Wrangler Resource » Affordable Jeep JK Wrangler CB Radio SolutionMidland Model-1001Z

Issues? Anything you would do differently?

Attached is a picture of what i plan on doing except on the left hand side of the carrier so i can clear the hardtop window when i open it.

Thanks guys you have saved me countless times! I look forward to discussing this!

So you can open it with it on the carrier even on the right side lol. many people keep saying the antenna blocks the rear window from opening fully

maybe they mean when the tailgate is closed you can't have the window opened..

I have two antennas on the tailgate one on the left one on the right and I can open the window just fine when the tailgate is opened....

From what I understand. If you put the antenna between the tire and the back of the Jeep, it screws with the signal. I don't know how the window got involved?

People had told me that with the antenna you wont be able to open the rear window because the window would hit the antenna. Obviously that is not true with the pictures provided. Thats how it was involved.

They are probably talking about you opening the window and keeping it opened without hitting the antenna if you close the gate. Meaning you will not be able to drive with the rear window opened. ;-)
