Default Question about Teraflex JK cb antenna mount.

I read in one of the threads here that the Teraflex tailgate mount does not provide an adequate ground. So riddle me this: if I establish a good contact between the antenna and mount, and then run a ground wire from the mount to the chassis/frame, will that provide a ground for the antenna?

Are you talking about the old TF bracket that mounts on the stock tire carrier or the new hi-lift and CB mount that works with the new HD hinge? I have the old bracket and I took the powder coat off of one of the mounting holes and I am getting a solid ground without using a strap so you might want to try it before you worry about the ground strap.

The problem people were having was with the powder coat. Just remove the powder coat from your contact points. It's thick ( powder coat ) and you're gtg. I added a grounding strap to ground the gate to the body as well. It's hidden under the hinge covers. Don't waste your time with a ground wire. It needs to be a flat grounding strap. The wider the better.

I did the exact same thing. I knew right off the bat the PC had to come off of the braccket. But I looked all around and couldn't find anything on how to run the ground strap. The last thing I wanted was a 18" strap to snag who knows what in the back.

I have Firestik everything....Firering, mount, quick disconnect, spring and Firefly antenna. And with my set up, my SWR is 1.5 on channel 1 and goes down to 1.1 around channel 8 and stays flat through the rest of the channels.

I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

I grounded mine right from the mount through the tailgate and grounded it inside the cab. I'm still getting a lot of feedback and my SWR still high. If I honk the norm, I get feedback through the CB. Any ideas?

No need for a ground strap. I just sanded off the coating where the antenna mounts. Works perfectly fine.

Jk alternators are noisy. You need a real solid ground for your power and should run the +12 to the battery. You may need a noise filter if you are getting bad feedback still. Also, make sure your feed wire is quality and the right ohms to get low swr. I have had bad luckwith Radio Shack cables. Do you have excess wire wrapped up? Thats a no no too.
