So I was able to finish everything up today. Came out very nice. Just a few loose ends.

For an external speaker, I went with the Road Pro RPSP-15 Universal CB Extension Speaker with Swivel Bracket. It's under $10 from Amazon. I used double sided foam tape to secure to the dash. It comes with an 8 foot cord so it easily reached the center console storage compartment where the CB is.

It was a really tight fit!!!! I did need to move the yaw sensor to the passenger side about an inch in order to clear the antenna connection. That was another challenge as I needed to use a right angle adapter. The support bracket that the E brake and center console attach to needed to be considered as well for the install. I had to make a square cut out to allow for the CB just to the right of where the E brake is.



This was a little tricky as the SO239 connector on the Galaxy would not allow the full length of the pin to go in. This allowed the right angle piece to spin which turned the shaft inside the radio and thus breaking the wire!!! Took me a while to figure out why I couldn't hear anyone and why my SWR was about 2.75!!! What I did was put the adapter in a vice and sawzalled off about 5/16 of an inch off the rotating collar and the pin. It did the trick. No the tabs engage as they should and the angle stays put.

I did not do any mods to the radio. This will come later. I find the SSB power could be way more. Just needs some tweaking. I don't think I am even getting the 12 watts I should be getting.

Antenna is a 48 inch firestik. Works pretty good.

The outstanding item is the mic connection. I need to make or buy a longer extension cable that has a right angle connector at the CB. That is the nice thing about the 959.....the mic is not on the front. For now, I have the cable coming through where the E brake handle is. I will probably need to make my own cable.

Everything looks very nice. All hidden and all stock components work as they should. If I don't like it, I am only out one center console storage tub. Not too bad. Location is slightly awkward but I did not want to mount it on top of the radio. That of course is the best location (easy to see). It would not fit under the steering wheel or to the right of my right leg. The unit is just too big.

 

I wanted mine to be in a location that was easy to see while driving without having to look down when changing a channel or something. Mounting it up by the rear view mirror also provides adequate volume from the speaker without having to use an external speaker. I decided to mount the 4ft Fire stick antenna from the license plate box. I did not like the spare tire mount for lots of reasons. You will notice in the one pic where the red arrows are that I placed a piece of flat rubber in there. Once piece in the footman loop since it had a tendency to make noise. It also made the fit more solid, no play at all. The second piece covers the entire top of the radio. I did this for those occasional drips of water that always make their way through.

 

Does anyone have spod and the tuffy cb mount in a 12 or newer jk want to get bearcat 990 and want to get the spod set and mount the cb in the tuffy i just cant find any detail on if it would work good

 

Just built this from scrap metal. It's completely adjustable and will fit any cb I ever have. I absolutely love it.

I molded mine into my dash...
