This is the exact model and mounting location I'm planning. Any tips or other photos? Did you attach the bracket right to the plastic piece? How'd you hide the wires? Thanks!

I took a cobra 19 and did a stealth install in the center console. It's very clean looking and functional. The antenna wire is completely hidden as well and I ran it under the carpet all the was up through the center console. I also used the universal mount that came with the fire stick and it worked out perfectly. I hard wired it to the auxiliary power supply in the center console and removed the cigarette adapter for now since it isn't really accessible with the cb there anymore.

I dont think I have seen anyone mount one where that little bit of netting is. Is it possible? Is there anything back there that could be damaged if I cut through?

I'm currently using the cobra 29. The base is stored in my glove box and the mic with all the controls on it is mounted on the passenger side of the center console (with the radio/ac control, etc.). I have the firestik antenna on the spare tire carrier with teraflex mount, routing the cable in the tailgate into the cab under the carpet to the front passenger side and into the glove box. Reception is great, and the radio is well concealed, invisible if I don't want it to be seen. Wish I had pics to help explain my description. Love the set up.

There is metal framing for the consol behind it.

I just looked into this. No dice. There is a mess of air ducting behind it. Shame as it would be a perfect spot.

I had mine mounted under the driver's seat with custom cables running to the channel display on a Rugged Ridge pillar and the controls on the "off road" pod to the left of the steering wheel, but connections were not reliable. Ended up getting a new CB and mounting it to the passenger's side of the console. Used a wooden spacer to help the CB get the clearance it needed. Not nearly as stealth as my original trick install, but it's functional and reliable, like the Jeep itself, and all the control/displays are easy to see and get to with minimal distraction, and they can be easily reached by both driver and passenger. Audio is good, with the speaker facing the driver, so no need for an external speaker. I opted for the Cobra 25 LTD "classic" as I dig the clunky classic CB look, but it's still smaller than the full-size. Not easy to find space in the Jeep's cab. Looking forward to trying it out on a trail run.

Default Galaxy 959 in Center Console

This is a work in progress......I am probably going to be all buttoned up in a day. For my CB I really wanted single side band. That limits the selection and they also start to get pretty big. The Galaxy 959 is a great unit. It is however very big!!!! I tried many possibilities but it was just too big! In progress now is modifying the center console so it fits inside nicely with the stock lid. I had to cut a slot out of the interior tub so it would fit. Additional modifications were required under the tub to the brackets, yaw sensor. I will do a full write up soon but here are some sneak peaks:

Looking down (lid not installed now)

I used some flat metal stock to hold up the CB. Nylon spacers made up the difference in space.

Power is 10 gauge wire straight from the the battery where there is an ATC style fuse in line with the wire. That hole in the behind the side access cover is VERY convenient!! It gets you into the engine compartment with ease!

I will update more soon. What I do like about the location is that it is still stock looking and the CB is totally hidden. To bring it back will only cost me a replacement center console storage tub.
