Welcome neighbor, I'm just 10 mins north of you. I've seen where there's a company that sells newly rebuilt computers and they put a decent warranty on them as well, they're a forum sponsor here and all they post about is their computers and the warranty. It might be worth a check if the factory ones are priced wild.

I had the dealer replace this one because I figured it would be a once in a lifetime repair on a vehicle. Sad to hear people are on their second. I think the dealer gives me 3 year 36k which is nothing.

Default Tipm transmission?

So My 2008 Wrangler seems to have some sort of electrical issues with the transmission. At certain times it will get stuck in 1st gear but when I turn off the engine and restart it runs fine for a while before repeating the problem. Could this be the TIPM? I had it checked at a transmission place and they said transmission was fine.

My 2008 is starting to have electrical problems all of the sudden. The dash lights up like a Christmas tree when starting , wipers on and won't stop, radio not working, and says no can bus. Then after driving for a few minutes it goes away and every now and then pops up again while driving. And then when I hit a bump it definitely does it. I've looked for loose wires or ground and can't find any. Removed battery wires and cleaned posts and reattached and it still happens. Not sure if that means I need a new tipm?

It most likely is. You can get them cheap that are the non mopar and easily install it yourself. Just order a new one on rock auto and go slowly. Mine had the same issue. Dealer charges $900. You can be out the door for $300 and about 1 hr of time.

Thanks for the info on where to get a new TMPS!! I think I found my issue though. After searching all over the engine cab, pulling/tugging on wires and ground for any loose connections, I decided to look inside under dash and inside steering column. I found that if I bump/bang on my steering wheel, it lights up. Every time I hit a bump it did it. So tore apart the steering column and unplug and plug wires back in and no more lights popping up. It's been over a week now without an issue. So I may had a loose connection in the steering column.

Default 2017 TIPM Issues

My wipers started running all by themselves. I was unable to turn them off or change the speed. Then the digital dash made it appear as though I was in all the gears (automatic) and I could not shift out of park. I did disconnect the battery, pumped the brake three times (voodoo) and it temporarily fixed the issue. Through conversation and research I found the following website and will work through the problems. (http://www.verticalvisions.com/TIPM_solutions.php)
I'll provide an update once I get through the steps.

In my case it's only the wipers going on by themselves (very slowly) and if I rotate their control knob on ams off trying to stop them it kills the engine. They get stuck in the that mode and engine won't restart until I "reboot" the Jeep by disconnecting the battery.

It start a few weeks ago and the dealership has been so full that can only check in my Jeep later on. In the mean time I am stuck with that issue since my Jeep is also my DD. It's completely random and sometimes a few days pass before it happens, sometimes happens more than once in a day and it comes out of the blue without any warning. Sometimes I only need one "reboot" and sometimes I need three or four before the engine starts again and things go back to normal (no indication whatsoever that there's something wrong).

The killing engine part is really passing me off and is also very disturbing since it disables steering and brakes. First rime it happened I was on a highway with my family and I was lucky to have space and time to pull over and stop the Jeep without those two. Also lucky it did not happen in some of the trails I go.
Did you ever figure out what your issue is? This is the exact same issue I am having. All of a sudden my wiper goes on, then if I touch anything the engine dies. And I need to jump or reset battery to get it going. I'm curious if ur issue was the TIPM. And if so did u repair urself?

I went to the local dealership and found out there are three (3) recall notices and a total of five (5) sensors going bad within the electrical system. The Jeep will be at the dealership this morning unfortunately they couldn't tell me for how long.
My engine has never lost power. None of the steps from the website (mentioned above) worked.

After 6wks of the my 2016 JKU sitting at the dealership - waiting for the new TIPM - I got it back on Monday. Then today the exact same issues came back. Wipers come on, dash indicates I'm in all of the gears & I have to do a manual override to shift out of park. The jeep will not shift out of 1st gear, it's an automatic. I'm stationed in Italy so it's a serious wait for US parts to get here. The dealer called Jeep USA and was told the CPU/ECM/PCM had to be replaced. Which means I drove it for about 40 miles only to have to let it sit at the dealer for another possible 6 weeks. Seriously, starting to reconsider my purchase.
