I think it's a bit more than the color of the housings. The jw has great focus compared to the current gen trucklite. I also think that has a bit of a drawback because it puts all the light in a cone and can look a little confined. In that cone it is bright and consistent across the beam. The current trucklite seems to light a larger swath but the intensity is all over the place. Like you said though they are both great. The new model trucklite could be a game changer.
It is a great read if you have a lil bit of time.

Looks like four different projectors in the JW's housing. Anyone know what each does? Guessing the big circle might be a driving light, top might be a high beam but the square looking ones on each side?

But Road Hawgs did a very in depth comparison with the JW Speaker and Trucklites Phase 5 and Phase 6(most current) and they were very close in terms on effective light on the road. I do not doubt that the new Trucklites will be even better and on par with the JW Speakers. Really it is going to come down to looks.

...OR...you are seeing the reflections from the stuff around the display at sema off the front lense of the light. The interior of that housing is black. Comparing it to a glare free pic of a JW Speaker is not really a good comparison.
