I think it's a bit more than the color of the housings. The jw has great focus compared to the current gen trucklite. I also think that has a bit of a drawback because it puts all the light in a cone and can look a little confined. In that cone it is bright and consistent across the beam. The current trucklite seems to light a larger swath but the intensity is all over the place. Like you said though they are both great. The new model trucklite could be a game changer.

The pics I saw led me to believe that it has a clear lens like the jw but the reflector looks to be similar to stock. The pics were not greatly detailed so I could be wrong. I really can't wait to see what the drawing board update looks like.

The new trucklite headlights will not be able to match the clean cut off line of the JW Speakers (Trucklites have no projector lens). But Road Hawgs did a very in depth comparison with the JW Speaker and Trucklites Phase 5 and Phase 6(most current) and they were very close in terms on effective light on the road. I do not doubt that the new Trucklites will be even better and on par with the JW Speakers. Really it is going to come down to looks.

It is a great read if you have a lil bit of time.

Looks like four different projectors in the JW's housing. Anyone know what each does? Guessing the big circle might be a driving light, top might be a high beam but the square looking ones on each side?

You have high beam and low beam in the center two. The outside square ones are for side fill.

We will have to see what the new reflector and obvious led change does for them. I have seen that comparison many times. Looking at that one comparison I would choose the jw. The trucklites are not bad looking but kind of spotty. I think the new version will be a major change honestly. Even the phase 6 holds it's own. With the new reflector they might have a winner if they can even out their spread yet still keep the large primary lighting area. That is the one issue I have with the jw. In a lot of pics the coverage looks a bit confined. glad we have options.

Let me know if there are any questions.

...OR...you are seeing the reflections from the stuff around the display at sema off the front lense of the light. The interior of that housing is black. Comparing it to a glare free pic of a JW Speaker is not really a good comparison.

Ah ha! So the outside lights serve no purpose but just as side fill? That's cool, hoping they were functional.

They are functional. They fill in part of the main beam.
