Hey, great point fandango777, I did install my sub amplifier in that trunk space and will use L brackets to lift it. I forgot about how wet it tends to get in there when it rains inside. Thanks for the reminder.

sorry dont want to hijack your thread, just have a question about the polk db's. If I just change out speakers to the db's in front and back, would that make a difference. Or would I need to throw in a new amp?
I currently have the Infinity system w/sub

The Polk audio db's will sound better. A new amp much, much better!

for those putting their amps in the cubby in the trunk....

i thought about doing this. but the biggest downside i see (perhaps bigger than water damage) is heat damage. this is a very poorly ventilated space. are you not concerned that the lack of air flow will over heat your amp? i went under the driver seat instead.

I can not speak about other amps but alpines newish line of PDX amplifiers can basically not overheat. They never shut off but may force you to turn down the volume automatically. I never see this as a problem though because they are SO well built that you can throw them in any tight space and be totally fine. Hell they were designed to sit on top of each other thats like stacking hot things on top of hot things but they just dont get hot because they are that amazing haha

Great point! I have to check that out..... A couple mods to the compartment, and it should be fine if needed.

Just finished the install. This by far my most involved install project ! Quite a bit of work. I took a few pictures of the install and will take more tomorrow. It sounds great but needs tweaks. Mounting the amp was a chore. Tomorrow I will post full pics and install details. It's beer 30.

Ok, well I'm having some problems. Major rattles in front and rear speakers. Speaker boxes need more attention then expected. Pulling all speakers out this weekend and correcting the problems.

Front speakers are rattling like no ones business. Adapters supplied by polk I think are tapping against the factory plastic box. I'm ether going to hot glue, silicone, or gasket to create a seal. I inserted a peace of foam to press down factory speaker connection and create more volume. Filling the remaining void with insulated fill Friday. Polks are smaller in size compared to factory so I could see fitting larger if desired.

Tweeters fit perfect with some trimming and sound unbelievable. Non obtrusive and look great. Amazing clarity they added to the music.

The rear speakers have an annoying buzz at certain frequencies and will receive the same treatment as fronts. Really fill out the sound waking them up.

I'm also forgoing the idea of add the Sony amp. I can't for the life of me find a place for it. The kicker amp after Friday will be pulling double duty powering speakers and sub. The kicker is 2 ohm stable so front and rear will run on 2 channels and sub bridged on the other 2.

Now the kicker amp... I found an ingenious location for it. I have not taken pictures of it yet but I fabricated a bracket to mount under the glove box. It's visible but not in the way at all. I will take some with doors off this weekend.

All in all I'm very pleased. With amp halfway up it's blistering loud, with doors and top off. Definitely a worthy upgrade. The speakers thump even without a sub. I took a few pics with more to come. Also invest into nut drivers. Trust me.

It can quickly empty your bank account, but I really like the jl audio stealthbox. Unfortunately, it is WAY down the priority list of where to spend $ on a jk.
