My TJ is a 5speed and my JKU is an Auto. Not ashamed to say that I love the auto for everyday use but then when I hop into my TJ I get that stupid grin I used to get when I first bought it. Manuals are definitely more fun but if this is your daily driver, the auto is unquestionably less fatiguing.
Also offroad- auto is easier (hence the word "auto") but the manual still has the edge in the thrill factor= fun and/or scary (stalling on a steep climb and then sliding backwards without powersteering or power assist brakes is ALWAYS a thrill).

My JK is my first vehicle. Besides my moms hand me down. I got a manual for the new experience and it's fun to drive. Another plus is that it's a good excuse to tell people they cant drive it!
