Default What are the best things to do for a stock Jeep on its first Jeep Jamboree

Anyone have some advice on what is the best way to prepare a stock JK for a beginer-moderate Jeep Jamboree? I heard you should air down tires. Do I need my own air compressor?

Thanks
Robert

I am not 100% sure...but you may need a 6mm allen wrench to disconnect the sway bar links along with the 18mm wrench.

Now that I think about it, you are right. one is an 18mm and the other has the allen stud.

18mm will remove the one end and get the job done.

Or just get swaybar disconnects. Usually a CB radio is a really good idea, even just just a portable one.

Thumbs up get a swaybar quick disco set!

Before my first wheeling adventure, I got the teraflex quick swaybar disconnects and installed them. They are really nice, giving you a spot to secure the swaybar once it's disconnected. It was only $100 from quadratec, and it's really well built. Plus, there is a writeup here to help you install them.

Default thanks for the advice

Thanks for all the advice guys. I can't wait for the Jamboree, I'm going to the one in April in Tennessee.

I know the quick disconnects save time. Are they worth the $120 or is it just as easy to carry the allen wrench. How are easy are they to put back on?

I will definitely have to pick up a CB also. I am taking my two kids though. Is the chatter usually clean?

Thanks

sway bar discos and a cb would be on my list. Does your Jeep have tow hooks? If not, you can get some stock ones here cheap. Don't forget to take a camera!!!!

Good thread. Lets keep it going.

My family and I are going to Drummond Island for our first Jamboree.

My buddy who's been Jeepin for awhile suggested new tires for my JK before we go. I just had BFG Mud Terrain's installed.

I already have front tow-hooks, and I'm installing a receiver hitch in place of the factory tow hook.

Additionally I have a Rough Country 2.5" lift waiting to go on. Next on the list is a CB.

Even though I don't have much Jeep off-road experience, I do my share of middle of nowhere, drove 2 hours down a 2-track to get to work kind of stuff. With that, I'd recommend a good first aid kit with a nice selection of whatever over-the-counter meds you use. The runs are no fun out on the trails......

emt micah,
I would think the BFG MTs are just fine for a Jamboree. I have been very impressed with some others that have had them on their JKs. Maybe later down the line you will want to replace, but they should be great for now.

...And I would recommend you save your money and just disconnect the swaybar manually with some wrenches. I would rather spend the money elsewhere, but that is just me.
