Expedition Modded Jeeps - Let's see 'em!!
Still putting together the write-up. I'll post it in the write-ups section ASAP. TEASER: I took the design of the rock-hard mount and eliminated the vertical plate that the can braces against, and I also eliminated the 2x4 (thats what it looks like) peice of rectangular tubing under the platform and replaced it with a diagonal 1x1 angle iron gusset. I took the same 1x1 angle iron and made a lip on both long sides of the platform. GAH! this is not really a teaser. Keep an eye out on the write-ups section.
[QUOTE=ezav8tr;3130234]Traded in my 11 for a 12 and setting it up for light expedition mods. On the way to CO now.
I love seeing another two door. Rare to see those interested in expedition mod and travel use them.
BTW, how/where did you mount the CB antenna and how is the Thule rack?

I figure most of you will enjoy this as much as I did...
Gunther Holtorf's 23-year road trip
Back in 1989, as the Berlin Wall fell, Gunther Holtorf and his wife Christine set out on what was meant to be an 18-month tour of Africa in their Mercedes Benz G Wagen. Now, with more than 800,000km (500,000 miles) on the clock, Gunther is still going.
The German former airline executive has travelled the equivalent of 20 times around the planet in the vehicle - which he calls Otto. He says he has never had a serious breakdown. Recently in Vietnam, Canadian-born photographer David Lemke joined Gunther on one section of his epic journey.

We still use the G-Wagon in the military up here. There's talk of fazing them out, I might have to watch the auction for one. A little heavy in the Mil Spec but would make a great expedition project.
