The problem with a remote mounted battery in the rear of the Jeep is that you would have to add a bulky high Amp fuse to both ends of the positive cable running between the Main and Auxillary battery. Additionally heavy gauge battery cable is fairly expensive for longer runs.
So it makes more sense to go the dual battery tray route.
M.O.R.E makes one for the 2012.. and previous poster said Nemesis Industries makes one also (I have only seen one picture of the Nemesis Industries one and read somewhere that they were not ready yet?)

BTW I also have the 50qt. ARB fridge and absolutely love it.. Probably the most useful Overland toy I have purchased... I agree with Mark D. that the ARB safety auto-turn off feature, turns off too soon, especially when you run it off the outlet in the rear of the 2011+ models (Sahara/Rubicon).. Chrysler skimped on the wire gauge for that outlet.. Sure you can pull +15amps off the outlet, but your Voltage drops significantly over the long run and thin gauge wire. I wish the auto-shutoff feature was fully adjustable Personally I plan to run a dedicated heaver gauge wire from my Aux battery directly to the ARB Fridge.
Thanks for the information. There is a lot to think of before you make decision on going to a dual battery setup.

Does anyone run the spod or something similar with the wiring issues for JKs?

Tight, but there's enough room.
Dual Optima are even easier to put there, because they're small.
Not quite 'user friendly', but batteries can be installed one above the other, and gel batteries can be installed on their side.

Love following this thread. Awesome rigs and some good advice. Can't wait to get my JKUR ready for expedition but in the mean time here is a picture of my old TJ. Funded by a college kid budget so not much to it and a picture of my current exp til the JK is ready...lol.

Not a battery per se, but I got one of these as backup. It has served well so far. I am very tight under the hood with supercharger, relays, etc. so this was a good alternative for me.

I also invested in (not an inaccurate term for what they charge for it) the ARB wiring harness for the fridge. It eliminated the goofy cut off problems I had using lighter gauge wiring. I installed it direct to battery and put the outlet here:

It is better to have longer intervals between the fridge cooling cycles.
On the other hand, a fully loaded fridge will work more, on each cycle, in order to cool more mass.

I keep mine on, to 32 degrees, with water and Gatorade always.

Another one is by M.O.R.E. --

Simpler, lighter, the batteries sit side by side and not one on top of the other,
and at half the price. (not made of Aluminum like the Nemesis)

That's a long thick cable.
Also, AFAIK, smart battery isolators should be connected to the batteries with as similar as possible cable lengths.

Very well made and very round, but for a price...

ARB 4X4 ACTION - OCTOBER 2012
Just bumped into yet another round LED light -- by Kar Tek Off Road.
American company, made in USA, for offroading & offroad racing.
Looks like a good heavy duty light.
