If you have a 2012+ jeep it has an auxiliary trans cooler, if you don't, it's prudent to add one anyway. The TJ's had them with our same transmission.

2011's didn't come with an auxiliary trans cooler like the 2012's. It just has the standard one behind the condenser. I'm just trying to figure out what all I'm going to have to do besides the new trailer. I know I'll have to add a 7 pin trailer connector already for electronic brake controls.

It's about impossible to find a trailer of any kind that meets the "rules" that the JKU has for towing capacity.

Got my Lid finished all except for paint and a rack for the RTT...
also decided to weld the tailgate back into place. Previous owner did a really crappy job of cutting it out.

Very nice M416. They are great jeep trailers. I'm still looking for an extra set of Rubi wheels for mine.

I was thinking the same thing. I left mine in front of my place all summer with no issues. I'm not sure I'd leave it in the bush for very long (day trip), but I have no issues if I'm in a campground with others. I've never done anything other than lock the lid/tailgate.

When you set up camp and explore, do you feel safe knowing the trailer isn't getting stolen? I think it may be smart to build a steel bracket that would cover the hitch tongue, just to make it tough for anyone to steal
Even when I was in a campground/RV park in Seattle I didn't fear it going missing. It's even less of a worry up north.

I don't fear my trailer being taken, I just don't want to deal with the hassle if things happen to go missing. That 10 gal of gas it carries could be the difference between driving or walking out. Same goes with the food. I live in a very safe area as well, but don't take chances. Most people in my town never lock their doors. That doesn't mean I don't. It takes less than a minute to secure my trailer so why not? Likewise, I've never run into any issues on trips, yet I still pack first aid, fire protection, basic survival gear, and personal protection. Dumb if you don't.

My trailer weighs about 3600lbs loaded for a week. I pulled it through the mountains last year with out issue. It is well balanced with about 300lbs of tongue weight. The 2012 with 4:10 gears had no trouble with it.

I'm figuring I'll be good. I'm looking at getting a popup to haul and maxed out it will be about 2,800 lbs. I just have too much living cargo to go full on expedition mode yet.
I'll have to get a 7 pin connection and a brake controller installed which I'm thinking from what I've read isn't a huge deal. But I might just let the dealership put it in to be safe.
I did get my Tuffy security enclosure installed today. I really like that it doubles my cargo space, is secure and fits perfectly in the trunk.

You leave your food in camp? I'd be more concerned about bears than humans if I lived in CO.
