Be aware that those are two different models. Mine is the Tuffy security tailgate enclosure and RAINSTATEBEAR is the Tuffy security deck enclosure. The deck enclosure I believe has more features than my tailgate enclosure but it also come with a much higher price tag. I'm sure they are both awesome, but it depends on your needs and pocketbook.

Default Regear and lockers or buy a Rubicon

I have a slightly modded 2010 JKU auto with 33" tires and 3.73 gears. I eventually want to go to 35" tires. I've been thinking of a gear change to 4.88 and adding lockers to the dana 30 front and 44 back. I keep going back and forth between continuing to modify the 2010 or waiting until I can swap up to a new Rubicon. If I got a Rubicon I would want to put the 35s on without changing the gearing from the stock 4.10s. On this thread I see lots of folks running modified older rigs with the 3.8 engine that have been geared and running 35s and others with newer rigs with the 3.6.

I don't plan on doing any serious rock crawling, but would like a little more capability than I have now. I like the way I've got my rig set up for hauling gear with the rack, air-bags and under floor storage. I would need to do the same mods to the Rubicon if I got one. Forum posters sound pretty impressed with the 3.6 engine and 5 speed auto, so I'm kind of leaning toward waiting for a new starting point rather than modding what I've got. I also like the idea of the electric sway bar disconnects as mine are quick discos now so I don't use them as much as I think I would with the Rubi.

I've gotten lots of great ideas from the forum and would like some feedback on this to help me with this decision. I keep going back and forth and would like to hear what you folks think.

Yup I saw, I prefer the simple deck enclosure, plus it's closer to my price range

You have to pencil it out. What will it cost you to do the trade plus mods vs. just gearing and reinforcing what you have. If the Rubi idea is just for the lockers, forget it. I replaced my Rubi e-lockers with ARB airs and never looked back. The motor and transmission improvement is the better question. If you are unsatisfied with the 2010 powertrain, 35's are only going to make it worse and you will be happier with the newer models.

Yours lifts with hydraulics. Mine is fully stationary. There's the side compartments in yours and the deck is stronger I believe. Mine was $252 shipped.

Anyone install the Mopar 7 pin wiring harness for towing a trailer with brakes? And has anyone installed a brake controller?

I'm working toward a mild expedition build with mine. I've got a big trip to Colorado coming up soon so I'm gearing up. Gobi Stealth rack finally came and I got it installed yesterday. It's so nice. I was getting a little anxious waiting on the rack, but I see why everyone is so happy now. Definitely worth the wait. It's going to be so useful, especially with my 2 door and lack of space. I've got a Rotopax mounted but still waiting on some other accessory mounts.

Here is a quick pic:

I'm running a JCR Prerunner bumper up front, and am still undecided on what I want to do in the rear and side armor. I'm leaning toward JCR's new adventure setup.

The recently talked with the guys at JCR and they told me the adventure rack and tire carrier is interchangeable. So when you not going out you can remove adventure rack to rescue weight.

Nice looking set up. Enjoy your trip to Colorado!
