Slightly different scenery from what Mark's been providing us...

So on Thursday I ended up having to head up a mountain/hill top about 120km (80 mi?) south of Whitehorse to replace a piece of equipment at one of our cell sites. Due to the road and unknown conditions (and the fact that it's winter) we ended up taking the snow cat up (fun to drive). Turns out there wasn't much snow at all... maybe 4-5 inches... however with some of the hills and ditches, likely just enough to cause issues in my jeep. Anyway, on the way up/down they plowed it. Decided on Saturday to get up early and try and get some sunrise shots (sunrise on Saturday was 9:57am). Photo's are for a winter themed jeep contest. At least that was my excuse - but in all honesty... didn't really need one lol. Chose that place from the neat fog that you can see in a couple of the shots from the cold air (-20c) and the warmer lake water surrounding this hill (3 major lakes) and the very heavy frost on the trees.

Almost ran out of gas in the progress... ended up putting 77.4L into the tank Typically (even when on E for a while), I've never gone above 71/72L. Oh... and notice how some of the pictures have a bunch of snow on the hood? Well almost got stuck in the ditch when it sucked me in... But lockers and the skinny peddle solved that issue - which was good...as there were no trees on the other side!

Awesome views! I would love to get some place where I'm above the cloud deck with the Jeep, with mountains poking up here and there. But, alas, that's unlikely to happen here in Oklahoma, LOL.

No clouds. I don't think I was up more than 3000 feet. That's all fog coming off of the lake that's not completely frozen over yet. -20 temps and warm (warmer) water... and that happens. You can see in one of the pictures where the fog doesn't cover the entire lake. I'm assuming because the southern end isn't completely frozen over yet while the northern end (right side of pic) mostly is.

When I was up there on Thursday all 3 lakes had it - and I forgot my camera!! The view was insane. I snapped off a few from my crappy cellphone... but it wasn't quite the same. I was hoping for something similar when I went up on the Saturday, but also wanted the sun rise.

I really liked your pictures but I'm a broadcast technician. Where are the tower pictures?

Made an effort to not get any of those in the shot - to the point I changed my angle at one point to put one of the dishes behind a tree.

But it's a microwave site & handles backhaul for traffic going from Alaska and northern/central Yukon to southern Canada. It's also the site for our cellular antenna's (which is why I was there).

I could tell that you chose your angles carefully. Just giving you a hard time... and I like to see remote transmitter sites.

That is a really good deal on the fridge! You never see ARB stuff on sale. I would definately take advantage of that if I was in need of another one.
