Expedition Modded Jeeps - Let's see 'em!!
So far we have the LoD roof rack on and seeing how we like it. I was between a rack and a trailer and still not sure which one I would prefer!
How do you like the lod rack. First person I have seen with it on. I see you are in FL as well. Where at. If close by I would love to try and see it in person. I love LOD but wasn't sure about the rack.

I really want to love it but I have two problems. The first is more a function of where I live and work. I barely fit in my garage at home and I work in a downtown environment and need to be able to use the parking garages there...which can be hit or miss height wise. I thought I would have a little more room than I ended up with. The second is the wind noise. They designed the rack with two air deflectors...the one you can see on the front and a second that goes on the bottom...almost even with the roof line. With both of the air deflectors on the wind noise is actually really low. I used to gave a Garvin rack on a Land Rover Discovery so that is my only noise reference. The problem is that with both deflectors on the noise is super low but my top flaps. With the bottom deflector off the roof stops flapping but I get more hum from the front deflector...finally, with both deflectors off I get no roof flap but I more general wind noise...at least more than I care for. With a hard top this would be a no-brainer for me since I could run both deflectors but with the soft (and as my DD) it is more than I like.
I would be glad to show you but I literally just took it off and put it on Craigslist! If you want to see any more pics just shoot me a PM and I can email some to you.
I'm up in Jax...looks like we might be at opposite ends of FL! So my wife and I were really on the fence about doing a roof rack and decided that if were were going to do one that it would be the LoD since it just rolls back and we can put our top down without removing any gear. Our kids love the soft top so going to a hard top is out of the question. Also, we liked the idea that we could just roll the basket back and have an awning while at the beach or camping. Well, this rack is definitely solid and doesn't rattle around. It is a well designed option and very beefy.

Another thing to think about, if weight of the trailer is a concern, you can always swap out the axle which will shave that weight pretty well. I was thinking that and change out the couple to a home made 3 axis. My father n law and I built a flat bed trailer for our quads and I debate cutting that up and redoing it but he put a wide axle on it so even it I did redo it I would have to figure something out with storage. We live a HOA, last one I will ever live in.
