Default Video - Overlanders in the Cascades

Got out into the Cascades, with some good people and some interesting rigs. It was a great day!

Well, while Guy was Cascade Wandering (okay, a week before he was), a few of us Okies were exploring the prairies of Oklahoma. Believe it or not, there is a trail almost a thousand miles long that circumnavigates the state using various farm and ranch roads. This is Oklahoma, so we won't have much in the way of majestic mountains, and certainly not so along the route we traveled from Stilllwater to Cowboy Tombstone near Pond Creek. But it was a fun day, and due to some recent rains, there was a little bit of mud. Plus, several bridges were out--these are truly rural locations so a bridge that's out may never be repaired. I camped that night at Roman Nose State Park. At about 3 a.m. I was awoken by thunder. I was in a deep hole with no cell signal to check radar, so decided to break camp and go looking for a cup of coffee. Good thing. It rained all that day over most of the state. I'd planned to hang at Roman Nose shooting a few photos of the park (the park manager was driving the red JK in the video), but decided to head for home. I'll be back at Roman Nose in a couple weeks for a special event I'm helping to organize--maybe even have another video for that, so stay tuned!

Gotta give those AEV folks who ran the WABDR about the same time as us a run for their money!

BTW, on DigitalByDoiron there is an introductory video for non-subscribers (I know all of you are subscribers, so you don't readily see it, LOL). Anyway, modified it--about 25% new material--including from the WABDR (as well as from Utah Obscura and from Anza Borrego) ...

Left FL last week and heading to Overland Expo East in Fletcher NC with a stop off at Crooked River State Park in GA. Was really fun but the rain that hit SC and NC was no joke. I got lucky when leaving on Sunday to head back that I26 was still open as the very next day my friends who left 1 day later ended up having approx 5 detours and 2x the drive time to make it back to GA. Here are some photos.
