JK Show & TellWhether they're just poser shots in your driveway or hardcore action shots on the trail, if you've got photos or videos of your Jeep JK Wrangler (or any JK for that matter that you think is worth showing off, inside or out), we want to see them so please post them here! Likewise, if you are wanting to see a photo of something specific like an aftermarket JK part or poser shot with a specific setup, this is the place to ask for it.
Been a member for a long time, but not active in years. Have been working on mods to the Heep to make suitable for a 7 month Cross Country trip with the family. Here are some pics from last summer. Making some progress and planning to head out in July for the big trip.
Recent mods:
* New King 2.5" x 12" Coilovers to replace the 14" Coilovers you see in these photo's - 14's were great for articulation but left uptravel a bit short. New ride height is up about an inch with plenty of articulation still.
Airbags added to rear springs - completely solved sagging issue for towing.
* New PSC Hydro assist setup to replace redneck ram (pump, reservoir, ram, etc
* Derale Trans cooler with pusher fan
Pending mods before the trip:
* Sprintex supercharger with intercooler -
* Yakima roof Box - largest one available - Canoe is not going, we will rent when desired.
Just an update on little "Stubs" the 2012 two-door. Recently removed the 16x9's and 285/75R16's I'd been using for some time and went back to a set of stock 17" rims. For tires, I ended up with some tall, skinny, Cooper Discoverer ST Maxx, in 255/80R17, or about a 33x10. E-Rated. The ST Maxx has been around a while, but this is my first time using them. I haven't even aired them down yet, and I'm seriously impressed with their dirt-road, mud, snow & ice capabilities. They're fine on-road, and really great off-pavement.
Little Stubs is coming up on 8 years and 100,000 miles. He's taken us on a lot of adventures. I may do more of an update in a few months, but suffice it to say that we, my wife and I (and the dog I suppose) are happy with the Jeep. We're based in central Washington, and the danged Jeep has been to Fairbanks Alaska, passing through BC, Yukon and Alberta. Across the northwest: Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana and Wyoming. South into California, Nevada, Arizona, and Utah... With more to come.
Present configuration, with the stock wheels, and Cooper tires. Also has 2.5" Teraflex springs, Fox shocks, manual transmission, 4.10's, and air lockers front & rear.
I've deliberately avoided adding a roof rack, though it's been tempting a time or two. Normally I travel light, but time to time Stubs drags a trailer around behind. It tows beautifully on or off pavement:
Great little rig, that has served me well. Hoping to keep the Jeep & trailer for quite a few more years.
Good morning all - wife and I want to add a roof top tent to our Jeep. We have the tent already (got a Smittybilt free off of a trade in jeep at work). What sort of roof rails/rack do we need to properly support the weight? I have been researching and would prefer not to get one of the racks that come down the sides to form a sort of "cage" around the jeep (don't care for the looks of those). Would any of the drip channel mount carriers/racks/bars work? In my quick research I have noticed that many only have 100 pound rating or so.

Thanks in advance
No, you don't want a rack on the drip rails for live weight on the roof. Take a look at the AEV rack. It works with Rhino Rack accessories, so maybe check out that line, too. A friend of mine has one; here are a couple shots of his Jeep from our Canada/Alaska trip ...
During the past few weeks been going through about a quarter million still photos from my Jeep adventures since 2012 (when I got serious about overlanding vs rock crawling). Selected those that didn't make the first cut and put them into a set of still shot videos, one for each year 2012 to 2019. Added some voice over and music and subtitles (set so you can turn them off). If you're interested, here is the playlist (no teaser for these). The last one has a studio chat about how I put it all together, as well as some thoughts on overlanding ...
I've updated the non-subscriber video on my YouTube channel. It's about one-third new content, and is the video that non-subscribers see when they first land on my channel. It's not just Jeep JKs, of course, but there are plenty of JKs in the presentation.
Just completed a run of most of the Oklahoma section of the TransAmerica Trail. Ran it with a friend who drives an FJ Cruiser. Here are a few shots ...
At Little Sahara State Park.
Along the trail.
Great Salt Plains State Park.
Wakita. Yes, that Wakita. We even got to see Dorothy!
Lightning, high winds, heavy rains and hail made for interesting nights and travel the next days.
More photos are in a public album on my FB page. The teaser video is now online here ...
