Expedition Modded Jeeps - Let's see 'em!!
Funny thing, I just got back from my morning walk and a fellow that lives in my addition was driving by. He stops and says, "Glad to see you got that Jeep back; thought you'd sold it!" For the past week and a half I've borrowed a Toyota Tundra from the fellow you see in the picture above looking at the damage. Anyway, so glad to have it back. And, I'm thinking about my next road trip. Right now, working on plans for Big Bend in the fall, and then the Colorado Plateau (Grand Canyon north rim, Capitol Reef, White Rim Trail, and Moab) next year. But, I'm ready to head somewhere sooner. Maybe San Diego to visit with my folks.
Not sure if this is the thread to post this, but I'm interested in the arb Simpson III roof tent. Are there any roof racks out there that are compatible with the tent and would give me the flexibility of going topless, lowering/raising a soft top? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Sorry, folks.
I'm not interested in creating more of these little fold-down tables. If someone wants to steal the design, I'll measure and take pictures for you to build off of it. I really do encourage those who want one to give it a go. This isn't hard to make. With a drill, hacksaw, grinder and some tin-smith pliers anyone can bend up some light gauge sheetmetal and brackets. A metal brake does make it easier, however it's not a gamebreaker.
Thanks for the compliments and suggestions. I appreciate the input. If I get around to making a Version 2.0 I will definitely incorporate a few design changes.
JKCobra - Thanks for the reminder about forum sponsors. I don't want to see a thread die - or get myself banned from the forum (what would I do at work???) - for not abiding by the rules.
DeucesALLin - The corners of the angle material are rounded, but they could use a bit more material being taken off them. No injuries from them yet, but the moment I get one I will include your name in the string of expletives!
Mark Doiron - Good advice on the stainless steel. I didn't envision full kitchen duties with this shelf, mostly a place to put things - the odd tool, a can of Pepsi, some lunch snacks, etc. If I were creative enough to make full meals I would definitely go the route you suggest. Most of my trailside meals are made at home and packed for the trip. Thanks for all your input and assistance for those that are interested (myself included) in overlanding in their Jeep. You have given lots of people the nudge they need to get out there.

Love the look of the 6.5" lift, flats, Trek Top, and those tires. I hope to have a smaller version of yours by next year. Smaller same lift, same top, flats, and tires.
