Ok, now THATS a good finish. Just the right amount of "crinkle". In real life does it look more like it's powdercoated or more like it's been Rhino-Lined? What's the texture like? Rubbery or smooth?

Okay, okay, you got me. I just couldn't resist the glitter finish!

It looks more like the black plastic fenders that come stock on non-Sahara JKs. The coating has a "thin" look verses the "thicker" look I've seen on some Line-X'd and RL'd parts (probably has a lot to do with how coating is applied - but I don't know that for a fact). The texture is controlled by spraying the liner closer (smooth) or further away (rougher) from the item being coated. End result is a very hard, definitely not rubbery, finish.

By the way, I would describe the finish/texture on my bumper as medium rough - it's not absolutely smooth, but it doesn't have a jagged appearance either (perhaps high grain sandpaper is a good analogy).

JK, thanks for the reply and the new picture. I'm definatly gonna have to do a similar mod to my MOPAR bumpers when I get them. I'm also probably going to do it to the Rubicon's rock rails. I think it'd give me a nice even look around the vehicle and match the plastic fenders better. Plus it will help with running over brush and stuff.

If you don't mind me asking, how much was it to get it Line-X'd and did you have to mask anything off?

I also used the Dupli-color Bedliner on my Shrockworks Rock Rails. You can see a bit of the process in this thread ---> https://www.jk-forum.com/forums/modified-jk-tech-2/do-these-2dr-shrockworks-rock-rails-look-right-61719/

The Dupli-color Bedliner is about $9 a can (I used two on my bumper), and can be found at most auto parts stores.

Edit: Practice on your rails first, or the inside of your bumper. It's fairly easy to use, but I definitely got better the more I sprayed.

Thanks! I'm going to remove the winch cover and spray it this weekend, and install the license plate. I'm already getting plenty of compliments though.

That REALLY looks GOOD! Nice job and good find on the Dupli-Color.

Is that the same Dupli-Color liner that was used to do the hard top interior color mod? I might have to buy a case of that stuff.
