You're right, looks like there is a star scan code that will need to be enabled by the dealer. I'm going to shoot by my local dealership this weekend, any idea what the code for the auto headlamps is? I've seen a ton of posts on adding daytime running lamps and it's respective sales code, but nothing on enabling auto headlamps. Any ideas? They're pretty receptive to this stuff but ideally I'd like to point them in the right direction for the code.

I haven't seen anyone try to add it to a Wrangler but I did find a Dodge forum where guys are adding it to their Challengers. They are using sales code LMG, so I would have them see if that is on the list for a JK.

Nice! Thank you very much for the confirmation?

Side note, whereabouts are you in the D? I'm in Warren.

I'm in Commerce. Might have to meet up sometime. Might use some of your ideas on my salvage build. I'm used to all bells and whistles in my Rubicon but my other one I'm building is a Sport.

Sounds good, spring can't get here fast enough!

So, while Gzilla is off trying to figure out the auto headlight feature, I turned to another electrical upgrade, a Lockpick CHR550 and a rear facing camera.

I'd been searching for a good deal on a used Lockpick but never really ran across any. Then, last week a retailer out in California put (3) of the CHR550 models up on eBay for an amazing price. They were all brand new in the box so I jumped on one!

I'd read a bunch of horror stories how they don't work on the 2012+ models without some possible rewiring. Knowing this going in, I ordered it anyway. Much to my delight, everything works without modification! I tested it pretty good in last nights snow storm. I drove as my g/f entered in the address to our destination. We watched Despicable Me2 as we drove there. And when someone was tailgating me, I turned on the rear facing camera...just because I could.

Overall, I'm quite happy. The software on it is a few revisions behind but everything works so I'm hesitant to mess with it. I think I will leave it alone for now.

As for the camera I went with, I didn't do much shopping around. I stumbled on the camera below made especially for the JK. If you look closely, you can see they integrated it with the license plate light. The camera is color, waterproof and the clarity is surprising good! It shipped from a seller in China so it took a while to get here but for the price and the result, it was once again worth it.

Now that it is all in and working, I won't hesitate to order up a forward facing camera. One of the nice things about the CHR550 over the V5 is the ability to add (4) cameras versus (2). I won't be adding turn signal cameras but I've already toyed with the idea of drivetrain cameras...once again, because I can.

- Costs:
* Lockpick CHR550 - $200!!!!!
* Rear Camera - $9

Love watching your build - looking good! Do you have a link to the rear facing camera by any chance?

Thanks.

I always runs with my lights on. Even when I had auto headlights, I put a piece of cardboard over the sensor.

Was the stalk the only thing you needed to install here to get the "auto" lights working this way? If I could get my lights to come on, regardless, and then go off when I shut off the vehicle, I'd be happy.
