Default New Tires! 315/75R16 Goodyear Duratracs

I ordered a new set of tires wednesday and had them installed on the Jeep today. I wanted to keep the same size as my Terra Grapplers, because they were originally 35's. Goodyear's chart online says that the 315/75R16 Duratrac should be 34.6" tall.
When i compared the unmounted Duratrac with my dismounted Terra Grappler, i found that they were nearly the same height, in which my terra's are worn down to 33" mounted. I will get an actual measurement of the mounted Duratracs tomorrow.

Other then the issue of actual height, the tires looke great, are suprisingly quiet, and ride nicely. -even being a load range E. I knew the tires would be quiet on the road, but they exceeded my expectations and ride really smooth, not knobby like a big mud terrain.

Here are my pics i took today of the tires, i'll get a few more tomorrow in some better light.

Thanks guys,
I was able to measure the tires today, and i'm not exactly happy with how tall they are. They only measure out to be about 33 and 3/8" I dont know about you guys, but when i pay for 35's i'm expecting at least a 34" tire. The Duratracs are merely a 1/4" larger then my Terra's Are* (after 42,000 Miles). And there is a lot* of tread on these Duratracs. My fear is that when they wear down i'll be running less then a 32" tire. I called Goodyear's customer service, but they are only mon - fri. I'm going to send them a nice email and give them a call and see if they'll do anything or help me out somehow.
Some may think, so what if they're a little small? My point is that if i wanted 33's, i could have saved 75 bucks or 100 bucks and gone with actual 33's, that may have arrived actually being 32's. Goodyear's 34.6" measurement online seems a shot in the dark to me. I could see if i were running low pressure in the tires and loaded down under an aftermarket bumper and winch, but the only heavy thing i'm running is my hardtop.
I'm very happy with the quality and design of the tires, just not the actual size.
Maybe i'm just nuts

Thats pretty much standard for metric sizes IMO. I've owned quite a few sets of tires and I've yet to have one measure out to its advertised (or company measured) size. 315s especially are notorious for being small simply because they are equated to being a 35x12.5R16 tires, but even the actual "best scenario" calculations come out to 34.6x12.4. My 315 Buckshots measured 33" mounted, and my 36" Iroks measured 33.5" mounted. I can understand being disappointed, but they look great on your rig, so don't be too down about it IMO.

Edit: Also, I'm sure someone will chime in with the whole "you aren't measuring the true rolling diameter of the tires correctly". I don't care personally. I measure with a tape measure and my eyes. They may actually measure out correctly if you go through the formula.

your 36" iroks came out to 33.5" i'd be super pissed.

what i'm saying is that my Nitto's were at least a 34" tire new and mounted, i figured goodyear would be at least the same. I don't want to be running 32's in several thousand miles. that's just shitty.

They do look great though. Had i know these were gonna be this small, and if they were available i should have gone with 37" duratracs, that way i'd get 35's.

And i did all the measurements. From the center of the hub down, from top to bottom and from left to right. It's all just over 33 and 1/4"

I was a little disappointed, but they looked good so i didnt really care.

I read all this crap about Interco tires being closer to "true" sizes before I bought them too. They were advertisted as 36x13.5R17s, and like I said, mounted they measured 33.5" at 35psi. They were also about the same width as the 305/70R17s that I took off to mount them. So I gained about 1/2" or a little more height and 0 width out of a supposedly 2" taller, 1.5" wider tire. Go figure...

PS - they did look pretty wicked though

They look good on the Jeep. I wouldn't loose too much sleep over it.

There aren't any places around here.. i'll try to get some flex shots or something to please you, but as for anything crazy it'll have to wait for two weeks until Jeepskool.

I lowered the PSI in them to 30 and they ride a little bit better, but i still need an alignment. I love these tires. They're perfect for what i do, how i drive and where i go. Now i just need to sell my half way gone Terra's and help pay for a 1/3 the price of the duratracs.
