Default 2012 Jeep wrangler motor big change

Well I had the oppurtunity to talk to a chrysler tech today and he leaked some info on the new wrangler for 2012. I am not sure how many people know but I thought I would share. He told me that the new motor was more than likely going to be a 3.6L with around 250HP a little more maybe and more torque. He also said that there is a possibility that they are going to bring back the 4.0 he said not to hold it to him, but he said the 3.6L was going to have that power that jeep followers are looking for. He didnt give me to many details on the body style. He said that chrysler knows that jeep customers arent happy with the motor that is in them now, he told me to thank the old owner of chrysler for that also he said they may be putting the brute out for regular production. If anyone else has something to add to this please feel free.

The motor information is kind of old news.

Now if he said he knew a diesel was going to be introduced for 2012, that would be news.

For the amount of weight and aftermarket parts that I put into it, I'd probably still opt to put a Hemi into in. But it's always good news that they're gonna give it a little more oomph!

No one but chrysler knows when the quad cam 3.6 is coming out for jk. A year ago people were psyched about the 2011's because they were coming with the new pentistar engine and, well, we see the results with nothing but painted top, new dash and new tail gate hinge. As far as the 4.0, do you think it will meet up to the new fuel economy rules setting in? The TJ with the 4.0 was already bad enough with fuel economy so what would dropping it into a heavier JK do? There are too many of these "whats to come next year" posts from a guy who knows a guy. Sorry man, no disrespect.

I f they bring back the 4.0 the Jeep will loose 5 star front crash rating.

can't see that happenning.

plus if you think the 3.8 is weak the 4.0 would be worse.

TJ and JK have pretty much the same power to weight ratio.

As if we needed another reason not to listen to a "tech", that should pretty much settle it.
