This. Despite popular opinion on this forum, the folks on this forum are NOT the target market for Jeep.

Even more reason for another manufacturer to jump in. They could easily offer a top and doors off vehicle without all the extras the jeep has. In fact it would appeal more to the soccer moms due to its on road ability Id bet. The appeal of jeep to soccer moms is the top off Im sure. Its def not the nice ride.

I feel sorry for the people who wait who will be watching me drive by in my new jeep while they are still waiting on theirs. I saw no reason to wait on ordering. The color I want is already available, and in fact, Milious already reported that it (Sahara Tan)will be discontinued after the first month of production - so it makes it even MORE reasonable for me to order now. My cost will be about the same since I am a Tread Lightly member and they will honor my 1% below invoice discount. Since the only major change this year is the engine UPGRADE, there is no reason to expect that there would be any detrimental change in the appearance or performance of the jeep that would cause me to change my mind based on a look or a test drive. I can be as enthusiastic as I want about a vehicle I have wanted since before I had my own drivers license, thank you. For those who want to continue to window shop, feel free. But for those like me who already know what they want - order away. Don't worry, sugarloafwingman, even though your first post here was a troll, I will still toss you a wave if and when you finally do pick up a 2012.

Oh! If you are not a member of Tread Lightly, and you are seriously considering buying a jeep, I strongly suggest you check out joining up. It's a great use of $60 to guarantee such a nice discount on a new vehicle. Even if you end up getting a better deal on your own without using the Chrysler affiliate preferred pricing, it's still a wonderful organization to support.

I have figured it out. The MW3 Rubi will have 35s. And the hood bulge is needed to fit a Hemi. Doubtful, but wishful thinking.
That would be an awesome rig. Maybe it will be the Renegade that was in MOAB back in April. It has the 6.4-liter HEMI. Again wishful thinking.

Great. I´m looking into the Tread Lightly membership. Also, did you have to give them a deposit? And if so, how much did they require?

Default a couple 2012 ordering tips

Just got my Rubicon order done. 500$ deposit refundable. Tread Lightly pricing.

FYI, I ordered the "connectivity group" option even though it appears that some of this is repetitive with the 730N nav option I also ordered. At the very least you need to order the connectivity group option to get the "vehicle information center" with your new JK. I found this to be a confusing area when ordering and, thanks to Milous and his info on this forum, I figured it out. Sales person was clueless about this.

Also, the heated front seats are already included in the Leather Trim seats option (PL), so you don't need to order the seat heat separately if you get the leather.

Disclaimer: Verify with the dealer. My dealer had minimal info so I had to find out on my own.

Can't wait

I read an article about a year ago (can't remember which publication) that Hyundai was working a Wrangler competitor. I haven't heard anything since though.

The Hummer "H4" was rumored to be in the works as a Wrangler competitor, but the China deal fell through. Remember the Suzuki Samurai ?" Consumer Report" and then Senator Dingal , with a little help from Lee Iacocca, torpedoed that nice little machine They out sold Wranglers 2:1, Detroit didn't like that. If Wranglers had competition, we would get a better product. Then, quality improvements would go from wishful thinking to reality...
