Sadly I'm in my 5th week waiting on a 2011, with this pace the 2012s will be here before my 2011.

My cost will be about the same since I am a Tread Lightly member and they will honor my 1% below invoice discount. Since the only major change this year is the engine UPGRADE, there is no reason to expect that there would be any detrimental change in the appearance or performance of the jeep that would cause me to change my mind based on a look or a test drive. I can be as enthusiastic as I want about a vehicle I have wanted since before I had my own drivers license, thank you. For those who want to continue to window shop, feel free. But for those like me who already know what they want - order away. Don't worry, sugarloafwingman, even though your first post here was a troll, I will still toss you a wave if and when you finally do pick up a 2012.

Oh! If you are not a member of Tread Lightly, and you are seriously considering buying a jeep, I strongly suggest you check out joining up. It's a great use of $60 to guarantee such a nice discount on a new vehicle. Even if you end up getting a better deal on your own without using the Chrysler affiliate preferred pricing, it's still a wonderful organization to support.
Didn't mean to burst your bubble. I want my jeep as much as you do. I have been waiting for 19 months now. I figure the $1000 or so I will save by playing "just thinkin about it" with the dealer is worth the wait for a few more months. I just made my last car payment so waiting now is $900/month less financing for the jeep. I want to check out the new colors in october as well.

Jusy sayin its hard to haggle with the dealer when you order so early. Enjoy your ride. You are right, I will be the first one checking out your jeep when I see it parked.

Why would they do that??? so stupid!!!!
There are a few reasons for this. First, new automatic transmission, W5A580, will be more closely aligned with the current manual 6 speed. Second, the Pentastar engine will enter the power band at somewhere between 10 and 15% lower RPM than the current 3.8L, and do so with a significantly higher amount of torque and HP.

The end result is a 2012 Pentastar automatic transmission JK with 3.73s will perform better than previous 3.8L equipped JKs with 4.88s. However, it's important to note that getting premium efficiency and performance may well come with after market gear sets.

As for me, I'm waiting for the Chrysler partner sites to be updated so I can start putting together my package. I'll still be looking at the steepest gear set I can get my hands on and I'll have 3 different sized sets of tires (stock 32s, 35s and 37s) to do some testing with.

So for the colors being discontinued after the first month of production.
NATURAL GREEN PEARL COAT (first month of production only, then dropped)
If production starts on 7/25, does this mean we have until the first of August or so to place an order for the discontinued color or should be order before 7/25 to gurantee getting one?

I was at my local dealer yesterday for an oil change and was looking at all of the colors and really like the Natural Green but I want to hold out as long as possible for any last minute information on the 2012s before placing my order. I hear about cool special editions coming, that will be more than just decals, and am curious about what they might be. I'm sure I'd be happy with whatever I ordered today but would hate to lock into something now and in a few months something cool comes out that I like better. Right now the Natural Green is the only color for 2012 that I like. Decisions, decisions.

I sweated on this. I was sold on some of the new colors and didn't even know what they looked like. I took my wife down for a test drive and we both really liked the Natural Green Pearl (wife called it green sparkly paint). Colors are really a personal choice with no one being bad. I wanted into the first allocation which ends the 16th of this month. To me this meant mine would be in the first build cycle starting 7/25. We chose the natural Pearl Green. Sometime it's dark and sometimes it's light depending on the light of the day. I've been sold on Chrysler metallic paints since our other jeep is steel blue. After 5 years I still marvel at it's characteristics.

By the time I ordered, the dealer could no longer get the remote start on the manual tranny. Maybe it was a glitch?
