Totally useless anyway ... Cheapo foam filled plastic.
Planning n tossing them away anyway for ARBs or AEVs (I want to retain the airbag functionality)

I hate those bumpers, those are the ones we get here. I was lucky that Islanders came with US specs. Can you believe that now that the Islanders are not being produced (at least for 2011) there's no single option with MTs tires?? They are all ATs... Even the rubis :/

The cans in the front bumper have no direct effect on the airbags (other than to buffer). That's controlled by an accelerometer in the center of the vehicle.

The cans in the bumper are just crush cans to act as a buffer to absorb shock from light impacts that would otherwise trigger the airbags.

Default trade in?

for the guys that have ordered a '12,

did you work your deal for your new 2012 with a trade in? if so how does the dealer give you a value for your jeep for the future?

Im in vegas and am not super impressed with the deals i found here when buying my 2010, (and other cars ive bought in the past). The dealers here dont have that much competition, and its too far for most people to drive for better deals. But Ill do it.

So my question is, can anybody recommend a good dealer in SoCal or Phoenix that I could try to work a deal with on a 2012, even a name of a sales guy would be helpful. I'm planning on a 2012, but don't want to get ripped (too bad).

Many thanks...

Have you looked at the Tread Lightly discount? You get 1% under factory invoice with a 3 year $60 membership. That should solve your dealing problem. I guess the other issue you might have is trade in value.

BTW, I'm in Vegas too. I prefer Chapman Jeep, I think its a decent place. Let us know how it turns out if you were to buy from there, because I'll probably order my JK from there.

So was my dealership correct saying that the 2012 JKU I ordered the beginning of this month would be finished and shipped by July 21?

I could have sworn they werent even starting to build until 7/25....

I believe SDbaja posted in this thread that the internet team at the Jack Powell in Escondido was giving 2% with the Tread Lightly membership for orders of 2012s. He even mentioned the names, I believe Chris Wilson was the sales manager, and they gave him their blessing to post the info. I'm afraid I don't have the post number. Good luck!

They moved up the start building date a few weeks ago to July 18. There have been other rumors that some people who ordered early will see their Jeep by the end of July.
