That's what I was also thinking

Perhaps, however I think it depends on what you negotiate your out the door price on an '11 Rubicon for.

I have a spreadsheet debating this exact situation.

My delima:

2011 Rubicon MSRP $37k negotiated OTD Price $32k + 0%

2012 Rubicon with exact same equipment as 2011 above MSRP $38k OTD Price $36k no 0%...

When it's all said and done the motor upgrade is gonna cost $4k to $5k more than just scooping up an '11.

If resale value and power upgrades are not a concern, I'd say get the 2011. Foregoing the new powertrain though, you would still be talking about a vehicle that's worth 3-4 thousand less three or four years down the road simply because it will be considered a year older. So you will save the money up front, but it will cost you later. While no one can know for sure, you would have to think that the new engine will increase the disparity in the re-sale price. On the other hand, if you are keeping it for 10 years it will be of much less consequence.

I'm happy w/ my '10 except for the drive train. I am hoping the '12 is better. If not, I won't trade, at least not for another Jeep. An '11 isn't even in the mix for me...

I just wanted to thank Milous (and some of the other members) for the work done on this thread. The info posted here made my ordering experience virtually painless.

So thanks!

Can you order a jeep any time? After the dealer's get stock can you go in and order something they don't have or is all the ordering just going on now because 2012's aren't out yet?

I like the idea of ordering exactly what I want w/out have to take something off the lot that has a feature I don't want.

Also, if you can order any time does the dealer make you pay extra for having to bring in a something that's not on the lot? Thanks...

Any info on the right hand drive models for the Rural Letter Carriers? I have a 2010 JKU with RHD and I know of several collegues that are interested in new 2012's.

im not sure when you can order a 2012 but from what ive "heard" its about 2ish months away, and they do charge a shipping fee of like 700 bucks but prices are negotiable ya know, so if you order a jeep that 38k you can negotiate to like 35k even if its already orderd and on the lot you have the right to walk away,

You can order a custom vehicle at anytime but they will probably charge you a small fee for it or make you put money down in case you back out. but every dealer is diff so just shoot them an email and ask.

You can order anytime. But the dealer has to have available allocation. Meaning they are given a certain amount of vehicles they can order in certain time frames.

There are no extra fees
N0 700 delivery. There is an 800 destination that is applied to all vehicles custom and not.
Down payment at most places, but they are always refundable or should be.

No risk no extra cost.
