 Chrysler Town & Country — 283 hp/260 lb-ft of torque
 Dodge Avenger — 283 hp/260 lb-ft of torque

 Ram Cargo Van — 283 hp/260 lb-ft of torque
 Dodge Durango — 290 hp/260 lb-ft of torque
Yeah but its a better MINIVAN engine. The fact that its used in so many vehicles is a huge benefit. There are going to be a ton of mods and chips available for it. I'm happy they upgraded the warranty. 3yr/36,000 to a 5yr/100,000.

Plus, all the internals of the engine are the same, the differences in power are just computer settings and intake modifications.

Are they? I wondered if they had a different set of cams to gain more at the low end of the RPM scale, like Ford does with their current 5.0 in the Mustang and the F150. Either way, doubling the horsepower from my current 4cyl TJ will be plenty noticeable for me.

It's worse than that. They stick 3.06 gears in the GC.

Let's just summarize and say that the new engine should give us considerably more power than the 3.8.

280HP moving a 4,500lb+ vehicle may not feel like a 280hp moving a 3,300lb vehicle. The problem with automotive journalists is they tend to benchmark everything against a lighter sedan and coupé.

I also noticed the 2012 Rubicon is aprox 2" taller than its 2011 little brother

2011 Unlimited Rubicon:
Wheelbase 116"
Overall Length 173.4"
Overall Height 70.8"
2012 Unlimited Rubicon:
Wheelbase 116"
Overall Length 184.8"
Overall Height 72.5"
That seems to answer one of my questions about the 2012, concerning accessories... I ordered a 2012 Rubicon Unlimited but have been waiting for the accessories catalogs to surface... What's gonna fit,... What won't...

But the info is incorrect IMO. For some reason Jeep.com has different dimensions than any of the Jeep literature for the 2011 (fleet buyers guide, brochures etc).

All the literature has the exact same dimensions for 11 and 12. Milous has said they would be the same as well. Everything will fit on a 12 that fits on an 11 is my guess.

Well guys. I couldn't hold out any longer. I just picked up a used 2011 rubicon with every option ($40,140 sticker) for $29500 with 9k miles. I couldn't be happier. That gives me a lot of cash to play with now. Good luck with your 2012.
