Sounds like it will be the 3.0L we've seen before (and goes to export markets). I'd LOVE to have that motor an option in my Wrangler. I'd even consider trading the JKU for a Grand just to get it.
I have a 2008 JGC with the Merc 3.0L CRD... Fabulous engine... it makes getting up and down the mountains nice and easy. The 3.8 JK doesn't like the steep hills ... well the tires/lift/gears didn't help me either

What kind of mileage do you get with the JGC?

Next year all Wranglers will come equipped with Hemi engines by default.

Just to F' up all us 2012 owners ranting about our great new engine.

No matter what there's always some newer/better coming which is why we all need to just enjoy what we got!

I do not get the whole 3.6 vs 3.8 issue, nor do I care. But this was funny.

It sounded like that would be the next major redesign of the Wrangler platform. That would sound about right as it would mean the current platform would be used for 8 years (TJ was 10 years, YJ was 10 also[?], WJ was 6, ZJ was 6, XJ was 13 before redesign and another 4-5 after).

Anyone else have any ideas or heard rumors about platform redesign?
I heard diesels were a "no go". Your best bet is a VW conversion that I saw for about $13K (new motor), or talking to a US military guy in Italy, getting one out of wrecking yard there and paying to have it shipped here - then doing the install yourself. I've heard the 6-speed bolts directly to the euro diesel, you just need the harness and the motor. 30+ MPG?

You would have to burn a lot of fuel to make up for the savings of the diesel after shelling out all that money to drop it in. I am all for swapping engines, but if your goal is mainly mpg then you better drive it for another 10-15 yrs to balance out all that money you spent on the swap.

Amazing how some don't like progress.

I could see the Hemi since the new auto tranny is mated to the Hemi in other models. Looking to buying either the 2012 Rubicon Unlimited or wait for the 2013 models to come out to see the changes. As for the diesel, with the diesel prices as high or higher than Premium gas ( at least in FL) I don't see the savings advantage. The torque would be a different story!

Correct door hinge camber so they swing closed, instead of open
Door electronic cable disconnects and hardtop washer disconnects that release without struggle and pliers
a drop down tail gate with a swing away spare tire
A wider dash catchall, below the radio that actually fits a smart phone (NA for those with power doors/locks)
Vertical mount oil filter, like all other vehicles, that doesn't require spillage of oil when replacing
winch mount on standard bumpers
door hinge protectors to prevent damage from door installation/removal, negating the need for NASA-precision guided laser sights
Polymer cowls that avoid the "dimple mod"
Flush mount lift lugs on the hard top for hoisting
Improve/remove clumsy rear washer housing that blocks 40% rear visibility
A soft top that raises or lowers and stores onboard in 90 seconds. And a $6K power top don't count

Just a few ideas...
The door and top plugs are simple to pop loose. Once you pop the red safety tab back, don't clip it back in ever again. The biggest trick is to push the plug together a bit, like you are putting it back together, and then press the release tab, and pull apart. They come apart effortlessly and instantly.

I'm sorry but I had to lol at this post! Backfired much?

All the 2012 head issues didn't scare me from getting a '13
